Graphene oxide interrupts the neural signals associated with anxiety without affecting neurons or surrounding cells. Simply put, it only "disables" the communication between certain neurons.
In a disease in which these communications are overly pronounced, such as post-traumatic stress and anxiety, targeting synapses with graphene oxide is enough to stop the development of this pathological behavior. It's a kind of precision medicine.
Graphene oxide is naturally removed after a few days as the surrounding tissues digest the material. Ballerini says that after two days, they did not observe any inflammation and there were no traces of graphene oxide at all.
Ballerini and his colleagues will then try to combine graphene oxide's behavior regarding targeting synapses with its ability to attach to carrier molecules for drug delivery.
Serge Picot, Deputy Head of graphene Flagship's biomedical technology package, comments: "This work represents another excellent demonstration of the therapeutic potential of graphene used alone or as part of a medical device."

Toronto Police Union Opposes Mandatory Vaccination
The Toronto Police Service has announced that all 7400 officers and civil servants will need to be vaccinated against COVID-19, and the police union opposes the move because it lacks "important details."

Although the IFPS claims to be neutral on abortion, its former president, Fredrik Say, in a 1993 speech, made it clear that organizations that are not ready to support abortion in practice or in theory cannot count on membership in the IFPS.
