This document presents considerations from the perspective of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) for implementing the shielding approach in humanitarian settings as outlined in guidance documents focused on camps, displaced populations and low-resource settings.1,2 This approach has never been documented and has raised questions and concerns among humanitarian partners who support response activities in these settings. The purpose of this document is to highlight potential implementation challenges of the shielding approach from CDC’s perspective and guide thinking around implementation in the absence of empirical data. Considerations are based on current evidence known about the transmission and severity of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and may need to be revised as more information becomes available. What is the Shielding Approach1?
The shielding approach aims to reduce the number of severe COVID-19 cases by limiting contact between individuals at higher risk of developing severe disease (“high-risk”) and the general population (“low-risk”). High-risk individuals would be temporarily relocated to safe or “green zones” established at the household, neighborhood, camp/sector or community level depending on the context and setting.1,2 They would have minimal contact with family members and other low-risk residents.
Current evidence indicates that older adults and people of any age who have serious underlying medical conditions are at higher risk for severe illness from COVID-19.3 In most humanitarian settings, older population groups make up a small percentage of the total population.4,5 For this reason, the shielding approach suggests physically separating high-risk individuals from the general population to prioritize the use of the limited available resources and avoid implementing long-term containment measures among the general population.
In theory, shielding may serve its objective to protect high-risk populations from disease and death. However, implementation of the approach necessitates strict adherence1,6,7, to protocol. Inadvertent introduction of the virus into a green zone may result in rapid transmission among the most vulnerable populations the approach is trying to protect.

A study by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard suggests that the mRNA vaccine may change DNA forever
"The authors tried to answer how the PCR test can detect segments of viral RNA when the virus is thought to be no longer present in the human body.
They hypothesized that segments of viral RNA were somehow copied into DNA and then permanently integrated into the DNA of the body's cells."
A new study by scientists at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard shows that segments of the RNA of the coronavirus itself are likely to become an integral part of human DNA.
This was once considered almost impossible for the same reasons that convince us that an RNA vaccine cannot accomplish such a feat.
Contrary to conventional biological doctrine, these researchers found that genetic segments of this RNA virus are more likely to enter our genome.
The study has shown quite convincingly that there is a viable cellular pathway by which fragments of the VIRAL RNA of SARS-CoV-2 can be integrated into our genomic DNA.
In my opinion, more research is needed to confirm these results and fill in some of the gaps.
However, this data can be used to suggest whether the RNA in the vaccine could potentially alter a person's DNA.
Since the mRNA vaccine consists of fragments of viral RNA from the SARS-CoV-2 genome;
Specifically, current mRNA vaccines contain stabilized mRNA that encodes the spike protein SARS-CoV-2, a protein that allows the virus to bind to cell surface receptors and infect our cells.
It seemed almost impossible. But, based on this groundbreaking research, I hope that the highly presumptuous claim that such a scenario is impossible will end up in the trash, which says:
"What we were absolutely and unequivocally sure of could not have happened, but it would actually happen"; however, I suspect that the importance of this study will be downplayed in the blink of an eye by expert reports trying to downplay its significance.
It is important to add that this work is a preliminary document that has not yet been reviewed; but I looked at all the data, methods, and results and saw very few errors in the work and some gaps that should be closed - but at least in terms of answering the question:
Can the coronavirus RNA in the vaccine use existing cellular pathways to integrate permanently into our DNA? From this point of view, their work is impeccable.
Also note that these are respected scientists from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard.
