We carry a huge range of mobility and disability products, as well as a full range of electric riser chairs and beds. We offer a FREE assessment of your mobility needs either in our showrooms or in your own home. We also offer demonstrations in nursing homes and care homes. Being a local company means we are able to cover eastern and central Scotland and offer a personal service tailored to your individual needs.Whether you’re looking to reclaim your freedom and independance with a mobility scooter, looking for an electric riser or bed to help with your needs around the home, or simply looking for an aid to help with daily living, we at Glenmore have everything you need to enable you to live life to the full.
Ask about our easy payment terms I bought my mother’s highchair from Glenmore over ten years ago and it’s still as good as new. So when I needed one myself, following a hip operation, they were my first point of call. My new electric bed helps me in and out and also relieves the pressure on my back. Glenmore delivered and installed it at no cost to myself and I couldn’t be happier. I love my new leather fireside chair. Glenmore had a huge selection to chose from and I had mine delivered FREE within the week. Galleries, theatres, shopping centres, restaurants. Buying a scooter from Glenmore meant I got my freedom back and you can’t place a value on that. My new wheelchair is exactly what I needed. It has big wheels so I can push myself and I’m no longer stuck in the house relying on friends. Glenmore's expertise cannot be matched when buying from an ordinary furniture shop nor their prices be beaten. We provide short-term loans of wheelchairs.
We also provide commodes in some areas. Will it cost me anything? We request donations to help us provide the service. The service is run by our volunteers. A refundable deposit may also be required for some items. I live in London. Why can't I find this service in my area? Wheelchairs and commodes are supplied by local British Red Cross offices in most places apart from London. Our office for Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Essex is the closest to London that supplies wheelchairs and mobility aids. Contact the Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Essex office with your request. Each enquiry will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis. Unfortunately we cannot guarantee delivery of the service in London. Where can I find more information about mobility aids? You can buy equipment on our online shop. Find out why the NHS does not provide wheelchairs for short-term injuries and ailments in our article 'Who pays for your wheelchair?' Help people regain their independence We need your help to loan the right wheelchairs to people in crisis. Helping people through difficult timesThe Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo is Scotland's biggest, best-selling outdoor spectacle. It is the most popular annual event on the Scottish calendar, attracting an international audience each year of some 220,000 people. As such, we are proud to offer a wide range of facilities and services for disabled visitors. Its ancient historic setting, on the Esplanade (the Tattoo venue) of Edinburgh Castle is matchless. Located high above the skyline of the oldest and most popular part of the City, perched on an extinct volcano some 135 metres above sea level. The unique setting of the Tattoo may present access difficulties for some, particularly the elderly, people with disabilities and individuals with limited mobility. Those with known heart conditions (Angina, Previous MI, LVF, etc.), respiratory conditions (COPD, Asthma, etc.) and vertigo sufferers may also be affected when trying to access the Esplanade.
Castlehill, the old-cobbled approach to the Esplanade, is a steep inclined walk of some 100 metres which, consequently, may prove difficult for some. In addition, there is on average a further 100 metres climb up the gentler slope of the Esplanade, followed by a dozen or so steps to be negotiated to reach the front rows of all the spectator stands in the arena. The rest of the seating in the amphitheatre is accessed by more steps which are quite steeply tiered. Facilities exist for the positioning of wheelchairs along the front row of Sections 1-5 and 12-17 as well as the top of Section 10 facing Edinburgh Castle. A limited number of seats are available for those with restricted mobility in the front row of Sections 12-17 and only five steps from ground level. Please contact the Box Office for further details. Disabled toilet facilities are available on the Esplanade. Vehicle Passes, only for those in possession of tickets for the disabled seating areas, may be issued which allow access to the Esplanade by Car, Taxi or Ambulance, however, they cannot be issued for performances on Saturdays under any circumstances.
