Step Five

Be the change in the world.

In the previous steps along the Journey of The Green March, we saw at step one that we have a responsibility for freedom and this is clearly explained in the video the philosophy of liberty. We cannot sit back and do nothing. We cannot expect others to do and decide on our behalf. Apathy (sloth, laziness) of the people results in the monopoly of power into the hands of the few who will abuse it.

At step two we were reminded that we suffer from this situation every day as the world nears the brink of disaster to the point of no return, due to the monopoly of power, the absence of real democracy, people's power.

At step three we saw what type of world we could have, one of genuine human rights and freedoms and in step four we were given The Green Book as a guide on how to take power. But how can we reach people to make that change? How can we encourage people to form People's Conferences to take power?

First, we need to form a revolutionary committee to work with others toward this task. Find out more about revolutionary committees from the mathaba, or online, such as from their publications in the Green Charter Movement or Green Book World Center.
