Dallas Stars Clinch Playoff Berth with Thrilling Overtime Victory

Dallas, TX — April 10, 2025 — The Dallas Stars are playoff-bound once again after a heart-stopping 3-2 overtime win against the Colorado Avalanche at the American Airlines Center on Wednesday night.

Captain Jamie Benn sealed the victory with a breakaway goal just 1:12 into the extra period, sending the sold-out crowd into a frenzy. The win guarantees the Stars a spot in the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs, marking their third consecutive postseason appearance under head coach Pete DeBoer.

'It's a great feeling,' Benn said postgame. 'We've battled hard all season, and this group believes in each other. But we're not done yet—this is just the first step.'

The game was a back-and-forth battle, with Jason Robertson netting his 35th goal of the season and rookie defenseman Logan Stankoven adding another in regulation. Goaltender Jake Oettinger was stellar, making 38 saves, including several key stops in the third period to force overtime.

With the playoffs looming, the Stars now shift their focus to securing home-ice advantage in what looks to be a tight Central Division race. General Manager Jim Nill hinted at potential lineup tweaks before the trade deadline but emphasized confidence in the current roster.

'These guys have shown resilience all year,' Nill said. 'We like where we're at, but we know the real challenge is ahead.'

The Stars’ next game is Friday against the Nashville Predators, where they’ll look to build momentum for another deep postseason run.
