Stars Edge Out Jets in Thrilling Overtime Victory

Dallas, TX – May 8, 2025 – In a high-intensity showdown at the American Airlines Center, the Dallas Stars secured a hard-fought 4-3 overtime win against the Winnipeg Jets, keeping their playoff hopes alive in a tightly contested Western Conference battle.

The game started with a fast pace as both teams traded scoring chances. The Jets struck first, with forward Kyle Connor firing a wrist shot past Stars goaltender Jake Oettinger just 4:12 into the opening period. However, Dallas responded quickly, with captain Jamie Benn burying a rebound to tie the game before the end of the first.

The second period saw the Stars take control, as rookie sensation Logan Stankoven notched his 20th goal of the season, giving Dallas a 2-1 lead. But the Jets refused to back down, with Mark Scheifele capitalizing on a power play to even the score before the intermission.

The third period was a back-and-forth affair, with both teams trading goals—Jason Robertson gave Dallas a 3-2 lead early in the frame, only for Winnipeg’s Nikolaj Ehlers to tie it again with under five minutes remaining.

Overtime was a heart-stopper, with both teams generating chances before Stars defenseman Miro Heiskanen ended it with a blistering slap shot just 2:18 into the extra frame, sending the home crowd into a frenzy.

The victory moves Dallas within two points of the Central Division lead, while the Jets remain in a tight wild-card race. Both teams will meet again next week in Winnipeg in what promises to be another electrifying clash.
