Buffalo Bills Make Bold Moves in 2024 NFL Draft, Addressing Key Needs

ORCHARD PARK, NY — The Buffalo Bills entered the 2024 NFL Draft with clear objectives: bolster their defense, add offensive weapons, and secure depth for a Super Bowl push. After three days of selections, General Manager Brandon Beane and Head Coach Sean McDermott believe they’ve done just that.

Round 1 (No. 28 Overall): Cooper DeJean, CB/S, Iowa

The Bills surprised some experts by selecting versatile defensive back Cooper DeJean, a playmaker who can line up at cornerback or safety. With questions in the secondary after Tre’Davious White’s departure, DeJean’s ball-hawking skills (7 INTs in college) and elite athleticism make him an instant impact player.

McDermott’s Take: 'Cooper fits our culture—tough, smart, and competitive. His ability to play multiple spots gives us flexibility.'

Round 2 (No. 60 Overall): Roman Wilson, WR, Michigan

After trading Stefon Diggs, the Bills needed a reliable pass-catcher opposite Khalil Shakir. Wilson, a speedy route-runner with sure hands, gives Josh Allen another weapon. His 12 touchdowns in 2023 show his red-zone potential.

Round 3 (No. 95 Overall): Bralen Trice, EDGE, Washington

Round 4 (No. 128): Sedrick Van Pran, C, Georgia – Adds depth to the O-line after Mitch Morse’s exit.

Round 5 (No. 160): Tyrone Tracy Jr., RB, Purdue – A shifty backfield weapon who can catch passes.

Round 6 (No. 198): Myles Harden, CB, South Dakota State – Small-school sleeper with lockdown potential.

Joe Milton III, QB, Tennessee – The cannon-armed QB could compete for the backup job behind Allen.
