Buffalo Bills Bolster Roster in 2024 Draft

BREAKING NEWS: Buffalo Bills Make Bold Moves in 2024 NFL Draft

ORCHARD PARK, NY – The Buffalo Bills entered the 2024 NFL Draft with key needs to address after an offseason of major roster changes. With fans eagerly watching, General Manager Brandon Beane and Head Coach Sean McDermott made strategic picks to bolster both sides of the ball.

Round 1, Pick 28: WR Brian Thomas Jr. (LSU)

After trading back from No. 22 to No. 28 in a deal with the Kansas City Chiefs, the Bills selected explosive LSU wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. The 6'4', 205-pound playmaker gives quarterback Josh Allen a much-needed deep threat following the departure of Stefon Diggs. Thomas led the nation with 17 touchdown receptions in 2023 and brings elite speed (4.33 40-yard dash) to Buffalo’s offense.

'His ability to stretch the field and win contested catches is exactly what we needed,' said Allen after the pick.

Round 2, Pick 60: CB Max Melton (Rutgers)

With concerns in the secondary after Tre’Davious White’s exit, the Bills snagged Rutgers cornerback Max Melton, a physical, ball-hawking defender. Melton had 8 interceptions in college and brings versatility to McDermott’s defense.

Later Round Steals

Round 3, Pick 92: DL DeWayne Carter (Duke) – A high-motor interior disruptor.

Round 4, Pick 128: RB Ray Davis (Kentucky) – Adds depth behind James Cook after Damien Harris’ departure.

Round 5, Pick 144: S Kitan Oladapo (Oregon State) – A hard-hitting safety for depth.

Reactions

Analysts praised the Bills for addressing critical needs while finding value. 'Thomas and Melton could be Day 1 contributors,' said ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr.
