Andrew Lincoln Announces Return to Television in New Thriller Series

Fans of Andrew Lincoln have reason to celebrate as the beloved actor, best known for his iconic role as Rick Grimes in The Walking Dead, has officially confirmed his return to television in an upcoming thriller series.

Lincoln, who has been relatively selective with his projects since departing The Walking Dead in 2018, revealed in an exclusive interview with Entertainment Weekly that he has signed on to star in and executive produce a new high-stakes drama for a major streaming platform. While details remain under wraps, sources describe the project as a 'gritty, character-driven thriller' with Lincoln playing a former detective drawn into a dangerous conspiracy.

'I’ve been looking for something that really challenges me, and this script immediately grabbed me,' Lincoln said. 'It’s intense, emotional, and unlike anything I’ve done before.'

The British actor gained worldwide fame for his portrayal of Rick Grimes in AMC’s The Walking Dead, a role he played for nine seasons before exiting the series. Since then, he has focused on family and select projects, including his long-awaited return as Grimes in the upcoming The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live film trilogy.

Production on the new series is set to begin later this year, with an expected premiere in late 2026. While the streaming platform has not yet been officially named, industry insiders speculate that Netflix or Amazon Prime Video may be involved.
