WNBA 2025: The Rise of the Phoenix

The 2025 WNBA season was one for the history books. After years of expansion, rising talent, and fierce competition, the league had never been more exciting. But no one could have predicted the drama that unfolded—especially for the newest team, the Phoenix Valkyries.

After the success of previous expansion teams like the Golden State Valkyries (2023) and the Toronto Snow Owls (2024), the WNBA announced its 16th franchise: the Phoenix Valkyries. Owned by a group of former WNBA legends, including Diana Taurasi and Brittney Griner, the team was built to dominate. Meanwhile, the two-time defending champion Las Vegas Aces—led by A’ja Wilson, Chelsea Gray, and a newly signed Caitlin Clark—were unstoppable.
