Kentucky Derby 2025: A Thrilling Upset for the Ages

Louisville, Kentucky – May 3, 2025 – In one of the most dramatic finishes in Kentucky Derby history, longshot 'Midnight Mirage' stunned the racing world by surging past the favorites in the final stretch to win the 151st Run for the Roses at Churchill Downs.

The Race

Under partly cloudy skies and in front of a record crowd of 165,000 spectators, the 2025 Kentucky Derby field of 20 elite three-year-old Thoroughbreds exploded from the gates. The early pace was set by 'Copper King', the speedster from California, who led the pack through blistering fractions.
