Indiana Man Charged in Hate Crime Attack on Palestinian-American Boy

Czuba, a 71-year-old Indiana landlord, has been charged with a federal hate crime and attempted murder in the brutal stabbing attack of a 6-year-old Palestinian-American boy and the boy’s mother. According to the Will County Sheriff’s Office, Czuba attacked his tenants—a 32-year-old woman and her young son—inside their Plainfield, Illinois, home. The woman suffered multiple stab wounds, while her son was stabbed 26 times in what authorities described as a 'violent, unprovoked assault.' Both victims survived and are hospitalized in serious but stable condition.

Investigators say Czuba targeted the victims because of their Muslim faith and Palestinian heritage. The boy’s father told reporters that the attack occurred shortly after his wife had expressed concern over the escalating violence in Gaza.
