Dave Franco to Direct and Star in New Psychological Thriller 'Mirror Image'

Dave Franco is stepping back behind the camera for his next project, Mirror Image, a psychological thriller in which he will also star. The film, described as a 'mind-bending exploration of identity and obsession,' marks Franco’s third directorial effort following the success of The Rental (2020) and Somebody I Used to Know (2023).

According to insiders, Mirror Image follows a successful architect (Franco) who begins noticing eerie discrepancies in his life after encountering a mysterious stranger who looks exactly like him. As his reality unravels, he becomes trapped in a dangerous game of cat and mouse—with himself.

Franco has assembled an impressive supporting cast, including The Bear’s Ayo Edebiri as a skeptical detective and Priscilla’s Cailee Spaeny as the protagonist’s increasingly concerned wife.

'I’ve always been drawn to stories that play with perception and reality,' Franco said in a statement. 'Mirror Image is a love letter to paranoid thrillers of the ’70s and ’90s, but with a modern twist that I hope will leave audiences questioning everything.'

Production is set to begin this summer, with an expected late 2026 release. Neon, the studio behind Parasite and Anatomy of a Fall, has acquired distribution rights, signaling strong confidence in Franco’s vision.
