Washington, D.C. – May 14, 2025 – The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a mandatory recall for several eye care products after an audit revealed potential contamination and safety concerns. The affected products include lubricating eye drops, redness relievers, and contact lens solutions sold under multiple brands nationwide.
Recall Details
The FDA’s inspection uncovered bacterial contamination in certain batches, posing risks of eye infections, irritation, or even vision damage. The agency has advised consumers to immediately discontinue use of the recalled items and return them to retailers for a refund.
Among the recalled brands are:
ClearSight Lubricating Drops (Lot #CS2024-05 thru CS2024-10)
OptiFresh Redness Relief (All lots manufactured before March 2025)
LensPure Multi-Purpose Solution (Lot #LP2024-12 thru LP2025-02)
FDA Warning
'Using these contaminated products could lead to serious eye infections, particularly in individuals with weakened immune systems or pre-existing eye conditions,' said Dr. Lisa Carter, an FDA spokesperson. Symptoms of infection may include pain, swelling, blurred vision, or unusual discharge.
Company Response
The manufacturers have pledged to cooperate with the FDA, stating that corrective measures are being implemented. 'We prioritize consumer safety and are working to resolve this issue swiftly,' said a representative for VisionCare Inc., one of the affected companies.
