Enhanced Fines: Penalties for feeding wildlife or straying off designated trails will double, with fines up to $5,000 for repeat offenders.

Ongoing Challenges: Climate Change and Geothermal Shifts

Beyond tourism pressures, Yellowstone faces environmental threats from climate change. Warmer temperatures have altered migration patterns for species like elk and wolves, while geothermal features, including the famous Old Faithful geyser, have shown irregular eruption patterns in recent years.

Scientists from the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) are closely monitoring seismic activity amid concerns over the park’s supervolcano, though experts assure there is no imminent eruption risk.

Public Reaction Mixed

While conservation groups applaud the new measures, some local businesses worry about the economic impact. 'Tourists bring revenue, but we also need to protect what makes Yellowstone special,' said Mark Reynolds, a tour operator in Gardiner, Montana.
