April 15, 2024 — The 2024 WNBA Draft, held at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, did not disappoint, featuring a mix of expected top selections, emotional moments, and a few shocking trades that reshaped team rosters.

1st Pick: Indiana Fever Select Caitlin Clark – A New Era Begins

As widely predicted, the Indiana Fever chose Iowa superstar Caitlin Clark with the No. 1 overall pick. The NCAA’s all-time leading scorer is expected to form an electrifying backcourt duo with last year’s Rookie of the Year, Aliyah Boston.

'This is a dream come true,' Clark said, holding up her Fever jersey. 'I can’t wait to get to work and help build something special in Indiana.'

2nd Pick: Los Angeles Sparks Grab Cameron Brink

Stanford’s dominant forward Cameron Brink was selected second by the Los Angeles Sparks, filling a major need for rim protection and versatility. Brink, a two-time NCAA champion, is seen as a franchise cornerstone for the rebuilding Sparks.

3rd Pick: Chicago Sky Make a Surprise Move – Rickea Jackson

In a mild upset, the Chicago Sky passed on South Carolina’s Kamilla Cardoso and instead selected Tennessee’s dynamic forward Rickea Jackson, known for her scoring prowess and athleticism.

Trade Shakes Up the Draft

The biggest shock came when the Dallas Wings traded the No. 4 pick to the Atlanta Dream in exchange for a future first-rounder and veteran guard Aari McDonald. Atlanta used the pick to select Kamilla Cardoso, giving them a formidable frontcourt alongside Rhyne Howard.
