Tracee Ellis Ross Launches New Initiative to Empower Women in Entertainment

Los Angeles, April 18, 2025 – Emmy-winning actress and producer Tracee Ellis Ross has announced the launch of 'The Joy Collective,' a groundbreaking mentorship and funding program designed to support women of color in the entertainment industry.

The initiative, backed by major studios and philanthropic partners, will provide grants, career development workshops, and networking opportunities for emerging female creators in film, television, and digital media. Ross, known for her iconic roles in 'Black-ish' and 'Girlfriends,' revealed the project during a keynote speech at the Women in Hollywood summit.

'Representation isn’t just about seeing ourselves on screen—it’s about who gets to tell the stories,' Ross said. 'The Joy Collective is about lifting as we climb, ensuring the next generation has the resources and support to thrive in this industry.'

The program has already garnered support from A-listers like Ava DuVernay, Issa Rae, and Kerry Washington, who will serve as advisors. Applications for the first cohort open next month, with selected participants receiving up to $50,000 in project funding.

Ross, who also recently wrapped production on her upcoming comedy series 'Diva Down,' continues to be a force for change in Hollywood. Fans and industry insiders alike are calling The Joy Collective a potential game-changer for diversity in entertainment.
