Orlando Bloom Saves Stranded Dolphin During Hawaiian Vacation

Honolulu, Hawaii – May 29, 2025

Actor and environmental activist Orlando Bloom made headlines today after rescuing a stranded dolphin during his family vacation in Hawaii. The Pirates of the Caribbean star sprang into action when he spotted the distressed marine mammal trapped in shallow waters near Waikiki Beach.

According to eyewitnesses, Bloom, 48, was enjoying a morning walk with his fiancée, Katy Perry, and their children when he noticed the dolphin struggling near the shore. Without hesitation, the actor waded into the water and, with the help of local lifeguards, carefully guided the animal back to deeper waters.

'It was incredible to see,' said beachgoer Melissa Tan. 'Orlando stayed calm the whole time, making sure the dolphin wasn’t stressed. You could tell he really cared.'

Bloom, a longtime advocate for ocean conservation, later shared a video of the rescue on Instagram with the caption, 'Never a dull moment in nature. Grateful we could help this beautiful soul return safely to the ocean. #ProtectOurOceans.'

Marine biologists confirmed that the dolphin, believed to be a young spinner dolphin, appeared unharmed and swam away strongly. Local authorities praised Bloom’s quick thinking, reminding the public to always alert professionals when encountering stranded marine life.

This isn’t the first time Bloom has made waves for his heroic acts—in 2020, he helped rescue a hiker in the California mountains. Fans are now jokingly dubbing him 'Orlando Bloom: Professional Rescuer.'

Perry, meanwhile, posted a playful photo of her shirtless fiancé post-rescue, writing, 'My hero… but also, how is this real life?'

Bloom’s latest act of kindness has once again proven that his off-screen adventures might just rival his on-screen roles.
