Local Teen Hospitalized After Jet Ski Accident on Lake Serene

Lake Serene, CA — June 2, 2024

16-year-old Ava Moore was rushed to Lake Serene Memorial Hospital yesterday afternoon following a serious jet ski accident on the popular recreational lake. Witnesses reported that the incident occurred around 3:15 PM near the southern cove, where Moore lost control of her watercraft and collided with a dock.

According to onlookers, Ava was riding at a high speed when she attempted a sharp turn, causing the jet ski to flip and eject her into the water. Bystanders, including off-duty lifeguard Ryan Carter, immediately rushed to assist.

'She wasn’t moving when we pulled her out,' Carter told reporters. 'We stabilized her until the paramedics arrived.'

Ava was conscious but suffering from a possible concussion, a broken arm, and multiple bruises. Her family confirmed she is in stable condition and expected to make a full recovery.

Local authorities are investigating whether speed or mechanical failure contributed to the crash. Lake patrol has reminded visitors to wear life jackets and follow safety guidelines, especially during peak summer months.

'We’re just grateful she’s okay,' said Ava’s mother, Diane Moore. 'This could have been so much worse.'

Ava, a high school sophomore and competitive swimmer, is expected to be released from the hospital later this week. Friends and community members have started a social media campaign with the hashtag #GetWellAva to show their support.
