Learning Human Design: Part 1, the Gates
Leonid Tolokin
The knowledge system of Human Design represents any human being (as well as any other living being) as a biorobot, which is programmed automatically through the position of celestial bodies at the moment of birth.
The position of the 13 major celestial bodies is taken into account twice, at the moment of birth (black Personality Gates, right column) and 88 days before the moment of birth (red Design Gates, left column). Calculations are performed on the HD Mandala (https://telegra.ph/Human-Design-Mandala-05-17) and successively transferred to the Bodygraph (https://telegra.ph/Human-Design-Bodygraph-05-17)
In order to simplify the understanding of the BF for beginners, during the calculations, which are now free of charge on various sites (it was not always so, once money was asked for the creation of a personality map), all gate activations are transferred to the bodigraph in a graphical form (absent in the figure above).
On the one hand, the demonstration of the gate layout is very useful, for it demonstrates the integrity and systematic nature of the Human Design (the same layout for all people; the same number of fixed gates); on the other hand, such a visual demonstration becomes harmful, for a beginner looks only at the layout and stops seeing the bars on both sides of the bodygraph.
And since the person does not see something, it means that it does not exist. It is for this purpose that the map itself in the figure has been removed.
Much of the discussion on Human Design, this multi-layered, multi-leveled system filled with interesting and useful information boils down to “what is my personality type”, “what is my profile”, “what is my inner authority”, “how do I live my strategy” and how “different people interact with each other”.
Where do the basic pieces of information that HR enthusiasts argue about come from? On websites, they are emphasized in separate inscriptions (I have “projector”, “4/6 profile”, “self-projected authority”, “single definition”, “right-angled cross of rulership”): here, the smart system has calculated everything, I am a user, I will not go deep, because it is complicated.
For those who want to know more about themselves or their loved ones than the simplistic information given out in the initial calculation, I will write down some articles on the logic of reading any person's bodygraph.
Today I will show you the levels at which individual gates can be explored.
Gates in Human Design are analogous to the concepts of:
- behavior pattern;
- talent;
- gift;
- quality;
- skill;
I'll take my Sun Personality gate - 22.4 - as an example.
Officially, it reads “Gate of Openness, Sensitivity”.
Step 0. Get your free chart report at https://human.design/chart-reports/free (requires free registration)
Step 1. Rave I Ching book
Open a book called "Rave I Ching" and find Gate 22.
"The Gate of Openness: A quality of behavior best suited in handling mundane and trivial situations. The gift for public access to empower others with individual emotion. Grace in which the spirit of the knower is released in a wave. Realizing the spirit and communicating those spiritual insights with others. Connected to the Solar Plexus and the Knowing Circuit. "
Step 2. The Rave I Ching Line Companion
Open a book called "Rave I Ching Line Companion" and find Gate 22 Line 4
"22.4 Sensitivity
When you get to the fourth line you get to the line of externalization and you get to this fixedness, to this one-pointedness, to the one-trackedness. We come to ‘Sensitivity.’ Remember, that the nature of the fourth line is that it is always ready to look to the other side. In this case looking to the 12 and again, particularly in this case, this is one of the three social channels so it is deeply social and deeply concerned about what is on the other side. The modification of behavior to enrich interactions. The fixedness is: how do I modify my behavior? They are very concerned about their behavior, often at the expense of getting the mutation out. They are just concerned about what the behavior should be. "

ALSO, there are a lot of videos in youtube for different Human Design concepts, if you feel uncertain about some concept - feel free to Google and Youtube it!
If you write out all your gates (it is convenient for me in a text document, it will be more convenient for someone to dictate, there are different options), then we will get the “ideal” character of a particular person as a combination of different gates.
Let's remember that gates can be lived both in a positive way and in a negative way. And the level of living can be different, between the extreme states (openness-closedness, in my case 22 gates) there will be many intermediate states.
Understanding your gates is a very solid foundation in understanding yourself, your environment, and the mechanics of the Human Design knowledge system as a whole.
In the next articles I will deal with centers and channels.
Thank you for your attention.
