The Kingsroad was the lifeblood of Westeros, a winding artery of dirt and stone that stretched from the icy wastes beyond the Wall to the sun-scorched sands of Dorne. Men traveled it for glory, for gold, or simply to survive. But not all who walked its path would reach their destination.

The Last Ride of Ser Edric Storm

Ser Edric Storm, the proud but forgotten bastard of House Baratheon, rode north with a company of weary sellswords. King Bran the Broken had called for loyal men to quell a rising threat—wildlings, it was said, had taken the Nightfort and were raiding villages along the Gift.

But Edric had another purpose. Hidden in his saddlebag was a letter, sealed with the sigil of a flayed man. 'The North remembers,' it read. 'And the Boltons do not forgive.'

As his party made camp near the ruins of Moat Cailin, shadows moved in the mist. By dawn, the sellswords were dead—their throats slit, their banners burned. Only Edric remained, bound and bleeding before a hooded figure.

'Your father’s blood won’t save you now,' the man hissed, drawing a dagger.

The Wolf and the Viper

Arya Stark had no love for the Kingsroad. Too many memories—of laughter with her brothers, of fleeing Lannister swords, of the Hound’s rasping voice. But when a merchant in White Harbor whispered of a 'wolf girl' seen near the Crossroads Inn, she had to know.

What she found was not a Stark, but a Dornishwoman with venom in her smile. Nymeria Sand, last of Oberyn’s daughters, had come seeking vengeance for Ellaria’s death.

'You serve the Dragon Queen’s puppet king,' Nymeria spat. 'Why shouldn’t I cut you down where you stand?'

Arya’s hand rested on Needle. 'Try.'

Steel flashed. By the time the innkeeper dared peek outside, only one woman walked away.

The Broken Shield

Brienne of Tarth had sworn to protect the weak. So when a band of outlaws began preying on travelers near the God’s Eye, she took up her sword once more.

What she discovered was no common brigand, but a knight of the Kingsguard—Ser Devan Lannister, a disgraced cousin of Tyrion’s line. Mad with grief after Daenerys’s destruction of King’s Landing, he now saw traitors in every shadow.

'You served her,' he snarled, leveling his blade at Brienne. 'You let her burn them all!'

There would be no reasoning with him. The fight was brutal, but when it ended, Brienne knelt beside her fallen foe, whispering the words of the Warrior’s prayer.

Epilogue: The Road Goes Ever On

As the sun set over the Kingsroad, three riders passed one another without a word—a hooded woman with a wolf’s gaze, a knight in blue armor, and a lone horseman with Baratheon gold in his pouch.

The road cared not for their names, their sins, or their sorrows. It only demanded blood.

And in the game of thrones, blood was the only currency that mattered.
