Breaking News: Delta Flight Diverts to Denver Due to Medical Emergency

Denver, CO – May 4, 2025

A Delta Air Lines flight bound for Los Angeles was forced to make an unscheduled landing in Denver earlier today after a passenger suffered a medical emergency mid-flight.

Delta Flight 1567, which originated from New York’s JFK Airport, was approximately two hours into its journey when the crew declared an emergency and requested priority landing at Denver International Airport. According to eyewitnesses, a male passenger in his late 50s experienced severe chest pains, prompting flight attendants to call for medical assistance.

'The crew acted quickly, administering oxygen and asking if there was a doctor on board,' said fellow passenger Lisa Reynolds. 'Thankfully, there was a cardiologist who helped stabilize him until we landed.'

Paramedics met the aircraft upon arrival and transported the passenger to a nearby hospital, where he is reported to be in stable condition. The flight was delayed for nearly three hours before resuming its journey to Los Angeles.

Delta Air Lines issued a statement thanking the crew and medical professionals for their swift response. 'The safety and well-being of our passengers is our top priority,' the airline said.

Passengers were provided meal vouchers and updates via Delta’s real-time flight status system, which kept travelers informed throughout the ordeal.

This marks the second diversion for Delta this week, following a weather-related reroute of a flight from Atlanta to Seattle on Tuesday.
