In order to update from Pixel Experience 11 to 12, you need to perform clean flash.

2022-04-14: To the moon! 🚀🌕

First of all I hope you all are doing well and I/we would like to again apologize for all the delays. The total delay results from multiple circumstances and smaller delays in the 'supply chain, starting with Google, continuing with the 12.1 rebase and ending with some internal changes and my limited time.
But the wait is over and it was worth it. Ladies and Gentlemen, may I re-introduce: The Plus Edition!

Besides the "usual" Pixel Experience builds, there will be the Plus Edition with many more useful features and settings. I highly recommend switching to the Plus Edition, but you have to make the switch yourself. Means, you need to download the Plus Edition build for your device from and flash it manually using adb sideload in TWRP. You can flash it like any other update, a clean flash is not required and you will not loose your data. If you run into problems, you should consider a clean flash anyway. The stock "non-plus edition" builds will always follow a bit later.

🔋 If you still have an abnormal battery drain from the google play services, run the following command in termux or adb shell if you have root access:
su -c pm disable com.google.android.gms/.chimera.GmsIntentOperationService
Alternatively, you could try installing the latest beta play services from here. For context, the issue came with a play services update and not with a ROM update.

2022-02-26: Face unlock ahoy! 🤳

You can safely update using the built in updater at Settings > System > System update.

  • To heavily improve the GCam performance, fix night sight and more, apply this config. Edit: Unfortunately, I tested the XML with 1.6 not 1.7. So you may want to downgrade the GCam to 1.6. Send "#gcam" in the telegram group for the guide.
  • Regarding Jio and other carrier issues: The problems may have been fixed but I got contradictory reports from many testers. The majority says it works. So if you use a Jio SIM card or if you have problems with another carrier, please try the new build and vote here!

Caution: This update requires a clean flash. No matter what ROM and version you have used before. Even when you have used the Alpha release from months ago. You will be able to update to the upcoming Plus Edition without a clean flash.

2021-10-24: Experimental Alpha 🚀

This is an alpha release. Make sure to be aware of the few known issues. Be careful when using F2FS. It should boot with it too but no guarantee. Use at your own risk. Of course this is the non-plus version of Pixel Experience 12. So you may miss some feature from PE11, but they will come back and are represented by the brand new ones in the meantime! ;)

This is the final update for Pixel Experience 11.
Make sure to update to Pixel Experience 12 as soon as it becomes officially available. You will be notified in this telegram channel when it gets released. There is already an experimental build that you will also find there.
