EXCLUSIVE: 'Captain America: Brave New World' Confirmed for Disney Release Alongside Theatrical Debut

Marvel Studios has officially announced that Captain America: Brave New World, the highly anticipated fourth installment in the Captain America franchise, will be available to stream on Disney the same day as its theatrical release.

The film, starring Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson in his first solo outing as the new Captain America, is set to hit theaters on February 14, 2025, just in time for Valentine’s Day. But in a surprising move, Disney has confirmed that the movie will also premiere simultaneously on Disney as part of their Premier Access offering, allowing subscribers to watch from home for an additional fee.

This dual-release strategy follows the success of previous hybrid releases like Black Widow and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, though it marks the first time a Captain America film will debut on streaming alongside theaters.

What to Expect in Brave New World

Directed by Julius Onah (The Cloverfield Paradox), the film sees Sam Wilson fully stepping into his role as the new Sentinel of Liberty, facing off against a new threat that tests his resolve as both a hero and a leader. The movie also brings back Harrison Ford as President Thaddeus 'Thunderbolt' Ross, now transformed into the Red Hulk, alongside returning stars like Danny Ramirez (Joaquin Torres) and Tim Blake Nelson (The Leader).

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige teased, 'This is a bold new chapter for Sam Wilson, one that challenges what it means to wear the stars and stripes in today’s world. Fans will see action on an epic scale, but also a deeply personal story about legacy and responsibility.'

Why the Disney Release Matters

With the ongoing debate over theatrical exclusivity versus streaming, Disney’s decision suggests a continued shift toward hybrid releases for major franchises. While some theater chains may push back, the move ensures fans worldwide can experience the film even if they can’t make it to cinemas.
