The Running Company – Geelong was opened by current owner, Scott Nicholas in September of 2010. Scott aimed to service the runners of Geelong by providing a “hub” for the running community to visit for group runs, footwear, training advice, nutrition and accessories. Basically, The Running Company Geelong would be a spot to talk running with runners! Over the past 5 years the store has employed over 20 local community members ranging from podiatrists, physiotherapists right through to elite athletes. The one thing in common with all staff is their passion for running and footwear. Three of these staff have even gone on to open their own store in other regions! The shop is located in the central region of Pakington St, 1.2km from the waterfront and 2km from the Barwon River trails. Easily accessible from Geelong train station, many customers choose to pop in on their way to and from their cbd workplaces. If you’re keeping up with the booming Geelong café culture, you’ll be in luck – plenty of wonderful options all within a 5 minute walk!
The Running Company – Geelong Running Club is completely FREE. It’s also a great opportunity to keep fit, meet new people. Every Wednesday night – 5:45pm start. Shop 2/226 Parkington Street, Geelong West We try to vary it every week but it’s usually around 8-10km at varying paces so it’s inclusive for people of all abilities as opposed to exclusive and only for faster runners. Born in Australia but raised in the ‘Nikeland’ of Portland, Oregon, Scott has a rich running background. As a youngster he was offered a scholarship at the renowned distance running college – The University of Oregon in Eugene – and trained under great coaches like Olympic medallist Bill Dellinger and Nike co-founder Bill Bowerman. Following graduation he began working in the running industry, initially at Nike product testing in the Advanced Technology Exploration division. A year later, he became the San Francisco EKIN Tech Rep. Scott remained competitive, training as a middle distance runner for the Nike Farm Team (coached by Nike’s first employee Jeff Johnson) and volunteering as a middle distance assistant coach at Stanford University for legendary Olympic distance coach Vin Lananna.
After competing in the 2004 US Olympic trials in the marathon distance, he moved back to Australia. He has maintained his love of running, winning races including setting a course record in the Portland (Victoria) 3-Bays marathon, and after a spell working in surfing, is now based in Geelong. She started her journey in the store in 2014 and has steadily increased her breadth of knowledge of the running shoe industry. Her passion for helping people improve their fitness continues past footwear through her PT business FullerLife Personal Training. Renee is an accomplished runner herself, counting the 2015 Melbourne Marathon as her best race. She ran her current PB of 3:05 on that day. Although toeing the line for Geelong Region XC during winter, she prefers the 42.2km distance and aims to break that elusive 3 hour mark.
In addition to her role as Store Manager at TRC Geelong and shepherding her personal training business, Renee is studying a Bachelor of Nutritional Medicine at Endeavour College. 175a Queens Parade Clifton Hill 3068 +61 3 9041 6801 1017 Sturt Street Ballarat 3350 +61 3 4343 2583We have detected unusual traffic activity originating from your IP address.
