I was wondering, how can I make a never ending fire in Minecraft? (I want to use it in SMP) You need to use a Netherrack block, as all other blocks burn up or won't catch on fire. Nethererrack burns for ever. Prior to the 1.3 patch, you could make an infinite fire by lighting a block of wood / log on fire so that only one side is burning, and it would stay infinitely burning. However, that was fixed in 1.3, so now the only way of having a block infinitely lit on fire is to get Netherrack somehow (be it buying it from an in-game shop, mining Coal Ore with a Golden Pickaxe if your server has the Golden Nether mod, or simply going to the Nether if your server supports it) and lighting it. There used to be a bug that allowed you to do infinite fire, however, it was removed. Now the only way is to harvest Netherrack from the nether. Then you can use flint and steel to light it once you have placed the netherrack down. In SMP you would need a nether world or use the /give command.

You could use a netherrack block. Just mine it from the nether. Alternatively, you could use /give [user] 87 to get yourself a netherrack block. This would be the only solution other than using a plugin. Netherrack fires never burn out and if you want to read about them, check the Minecraft Wiki, Netherrack article. /gamerule doFireTick false will make all fires burn infinitely without spreading. You can harvest netherrack and use that, but unless you want a fireplace why get a never ending fire? Also, light the netherrack with a fire charge/flint and steel. yes infinite time fire is possible. flint and steel (alternatively firecharge) netherrack that is found in nether. netherrack looks like this (the block below the fire) the nether rack is found in nether which looks like a hellish place. look the screenshot below You need Netherrack, a block that makes fires burn unlimitedly. Netherrack can be found in the Nether, a dimensions that can be accessed by a portal built by 4 by 5 obsidian blocks.

But keep the inner blocks empty. Then light the obsidian with flint and steel and the portal should be active. The Nether is full of Netherrack, so it's easy to collect. Once Netherrack is lit, the fire burns forever. Thank you for your interest in this question. Would you like to answer one of these unanswered questions instead? great propane fire pit with great heat love it Best Purchase of the Year!!! Loving this fireplace - I have it on my patio and love sitting outside in the evening. So easy to put together too. After assembly (which wasn't easy) this unit did not work. I will credit to Overstock as they did address my issue to my satisfaction,, but the product was a bust. This fire table is awesome. We love the ambiance it gives on our deck. The firepit is nice but came damaged on the top. I opted not to try to return it but the large chip out of the top will always take away from the look. The heat is ok but would probably be better in a sheltered area vs. open deck. I bought this firepit because I wanted one that would not annoy neighbors with the smoke and smell of a wood fire. It was easy to assemble with a philips screwdriver. It actually came with a cover which I did not expect. It looks exactly like the picture when lit. The tile looks very nice and stays cool. We have used it to make s'mores and to just enjoy a fire on a nice evening. It's easy because when you're done, you just shut it off. The only thing I don't like is that the fire glass stays hot for quite a while so you can't cover it for hours after. I saw this firepit at a friend's house and knew it was the right unit to complete my patio! At first, I was concerned that the firepit was too dark in color for my espresso colored wicker patio furniture, but it turned out to be a good match.

When the unit is lit, the fire glass is very sparkly and mesmerizing! It comes with a generous amount of black fire glass, but I plan on getting another color to blend and to add a bit of color when unit is not in use. The firepit gives off a good amount of heat, but I got it for ambient lighting and marshmallow toasting! My purchase arrived within a week and no parts were damaged. Assembly took about an hour with two people. A plastic cover is included, but it's very thin and can rip easily. Overall, it's a very pretty firepit and good value for the price. Lots of compliments from guests! I had searched hard and long for a cheap outdoor fireplace that less than 500 and finally found this one to take the risk on. All of the fireplaces, even the more expensive 500 on up fireplaces all have major issues according to the reviews on amazon. Definitely do you research. Box arrived in decent condition unlike most reviews for other fireplaces stated. No cracked tiles like other fireplaces reviewers had stated which was a HUGE relief because some of the companies will make you return the entire 50lb fireplace as the fix for the top...

And, customer always seems to have to pay s/h. Instructions could have been more detailed. Just be very careful whilst assembling and do not tighten the screws all the way until everything is together. I had to reassemble it 2 different times because of such minor differences between the door and side panels and a couple other pieces. Total construction time was about an hour and a half but if I had to do it again, it would only take a half hour or so. It is an outdoor piece so I'm not going to critique the condition too badly, but, there were 2 issues only. 1 was that the craftsmanship of the tiles placed squarely and evenly in the grout was lacking. One tile is angled downward a little more than the others and some of the grout had open gaps between the grout and tile but they are small and not too noticeable. The other issue was that the finish on 2 sides of the 2 inch side portion of the top was scratched in whispy-like ways in about a 3-5 inch area. The sides of the top are a dark dark brown color though a dark color though and the scratching looks like it was done with a soft sandblaster so it didn't blatantly stand out so it didn't bother me much.

I turned those two side to the pool so guests won't see them. It is of sturdy construction, comes with a cover that ripped after about a week in the wind so buy your own because most reviewers say fireplaces rust in no time, and the slide out tray on the bottom for the propane tank is a real nice addition. Also, this is the only one I have EVER seen that comes with plenty of black glass rock. It covered the entire tray on top about an inch thick and this thing looks beautiful when lit. It started up properly and continues to start within 5 seconds of pressing the starter. The flames go about 2 feet high which is high for one of these things and provides heat unlike most others I've read about. I've had it for about a month now and have had no issues. It is a really really attractive piece especially with the black tiles, dark, dark color, and black glass rocks so I decided to try my luck and buy another. I did, and have not constructed it yet but when I do I'll update this review.
