Lego’s new Obi Wan and Grievous figures are built for epic lightsaber duels 04.16.2015 :: 7:31AM EST You can recreate the epic battles between the Jedi and Sith with your minifigs, but later this year Lego will give you bigger, better option: new buildable action figures, including Obi-Wan and General Grievous. Earlier this year, Lego revealed their first two buildable Star Wars figures: Luke Skywalker with his sinister-looking all-black digs, and Darth Vader. You can probably tell from looking that these aren’t brick-built figures. Instead, they’re all based on the same time-tested snap-together platform that Lego has used for their Hero Factory sets. The fact that you have to build the figures before they’re ready for play with is a nice upgrade over plain-old blister-packed action figures. The time you spend snapping together the 186 pieces required to build Grievous — or just 83 for his sworn enemy Obi-Wan — lets you get into a Star Wars state of mind.
Or, if your house is like mine, a chance to see who can post the fastest time from tearing plastic open to striking the first pose. They may not be quite as awesome as a these incredibly detailed Stormtrooper costumes, but they also won’t cost you $1,200. Lego’s new Star Wars figures will cost you between $19 and $35 when they land on store shelves this September. If Star Wars isn’t your thing, but you like the look of Lego’s buildable figures, there are other options. They’ve got three from DC Comics — Batman, Green Lantern, and The Joker — and three from Marvel — Spider Man, Iron Man, and the Hulk.
