Retail price of current configuration: Estimated Delivery: 2-3 weeks Shipping & Delivery Info Don Chadwick, who has dedicated his career to understanding the complex relationship between humans and furniture, proves that comfort and simplicity can coexist. Having realized that abundant controls in no way ensure comfort, he designed a smarter chair — one that is adjusted not by the user but instead adjusts to the user. Through innovative design and expert engineering, Chadwick® takes the burden of comfort out of the user’s hand. One of the world’s foremost experts in ergonomics, Don Chadwick received his principal design training at the University of California, Los Angeles. He then worked for architect Victor Gruen before establishing his own practice in 1964.

Over the last several decades, Don Chadwick has pioneered the use of modern materials, molding processes, and mechanisms to revolutionize the field of ergonomic chair design. In 1994, Chadwick designed the landmark Aeron Chair for Herman Miller, catapulting him to national attention. In collaboration with Knoll, Chadwick applied his expertise to develop the Chadwick Chair in 2005. He returned to Knoll in 2009 to introduce the Spark Series. Knoll Design Director, Benjamin Pardo said of the Spark: "Don worked within the architectural constraints of the chair without adding unnecessary embellishments or sacrificing comfort. Spark's subtle design allows it to change personality through color, texture and pattern. This subtlety brings an enduring quality to the design that is consistent with our modern design heritage at Knoll."Simple is sometimes better than complicated. The Chadwick chair combines a synchronized control and tilt tension (Active Suspension Technology) with a supremely breathable seat and back fabric to create a cradle for your body.

The fabric works to provide body-conforming support without requiring you to figure out a bunch of controls to get it "just right," and the active suspension allows your torso to open up when you lean back; your circulatory system is given a better environment to do its work, and you end up more comfortable as a result. And all that with the least amount of work on your part. Simply adjust tilt tension and seat height and you're ready to sit comfortably. The Chadwick chair's built-in lumbar support (enhanced by the curvature of the task chair's back) gives you the support you need. If you need more, there's an optional lumbar pad (also easy-to-operate: simply install using the provided magnets) to give you the comfort you're looking for. The Chadwick chair by Knoll: innovatively simple. Chadwick Chair's Features at a Glance Spring loaded armsThis is a hidden gem!
