This included lots of noise and distrubishment and made these areas "no go" areas for us during the day. Had we been aware of this prior to booking we would not have booked. Also we booked a twin room, on checking in I checked that we were allocated a twin room and was told yes. The room we were given was a double. On informing reception we were told to come back ro reception (no offer was made to carry our luggage). We were later allocated a twin room. The room was fine but the location was poor and when we enterd the room the floors in the main area and bathroom were still wet. On four occassions I went to guest services around 10.30/11.00am. On each ocassion I was told that the member of staff was "busy" elsewhere and to come back later.
Also capacity is a problem at breakfast in terms of resources and layout. On one occassion I had to vist all three drinks sercice stations to get a clean cup and there were issues with avavilbility of cutlery and crockery. 눉Rooms need thorough cleaning. I appreciate Hotel undergoing renovations but dimming room chairs disgraceful.눇Friendliness of most staff particularly entertainment staff. Food was 8 out of 10 . 눉We were half board and the buffet dinners were not the best quality and the staff could be quite rude when they were busy.눇The room was very spacious , the pool area was huge and plenty of sun beds. 눉Swimming pools were ice cold, only 1 heated but not very well.눇We liked the location as it was away from the centre of town which allowed us to walk there and back along the well maintained promenade. 눉Need to sort the toasting machines, took 5 attempts for bread to brown눇Breakfast and dinner options offered a huge choice. 눉Lots of building work going on drilling all day long and areas cordoned off.
bish left in walkway from works.눇The layout of the complex rooms divided into small blocks.Food very good.position on sea front. 눉Communication was very poor. 3 outdoor pools never reached the listed temperature of 23deg, and 2 of them were paddling pools! Plus they trained PADI divers in the same luke-warm pool. A-la-Carte restaurants were a waste of time & poor quality. We nick-named the vast Buffet area as the "Peasant's Revolt" on account of the school canteen atmosphere, although the food was plentiful with good salads. All-Inclusive wristbands were the norm, so if you are HB make sure you buy the branded liquor, not the local rubbish. There is an upgrade option to "Privelege" @ 35euros/day but really not worth it. The "Nescafe" automatic drinks dispensers were a poor ad for the brand - weak and washy. Plus, you cannot get tea/coffee in any restaurant over lunch or supper - only from the bars. Piano bar was closed for total refurbishment, so nowhere for adults to escape from the "ankle-biters".
Everyone piled into one enormous, brightly lit bar with high ceilings, where bored children were encouraged to race around, musical acts performed in front of a fitted-carpet dance area, and grannies played cards all night at the front row tables. Refurbishment was also in the pool area, so very difficult to relax. Our room was located away from the central area, but unfortunately right above the Pub / Sports Bar.눇Half-board option to switch from Supper to Lunch. Allowed you to eat out with better food and half-price drinks! Promenade walk for a brisk 30 minute stretch into P-B. Modern marina with good shops and restaurants - and the only sandy beach - is another 15 minutes walk further on. Taxis to hotel around 5euro from PB; Daily car hire in town from 35 euros, and you can visit volcano park and whole island in a day! Spa pools & sauna/turkish bath were good but expensive - so no indoor heated pool is freely available in February - misleading website. Monday night Gala Show in Cinema Theatre was "burlesque" style [so no kids], reasonable food served at your table, and free wine - so great value for HB guests with no extra charge!
But who on earth designed a cinema with 3 big columns down the centre??? This is a low-rise development, with most apartments clustered in 2-storey blocks with external corridors. The aging hotel style and out-of-town location is most suitable for young families and retired couples. 눇Mass hotel and poor personalroom keys kept failing. no outdoor seating area for drinks눇heated pool 눉The reception staff could be more friendly...all other staff very nice.눇The food served for half board was amazing good variety and delicious...spa facilities also excellent... 눉dcc-scam, huge queues at check-in and check-out, overall grossly incompetent check-in and check-out-desks and related management눇beautiful upgraded room on 7th floor, outstanding dinner at bistro, hardware in general splendid 눉Food was terrible, some of staff was not very quick in responses, the ongoing refurbishments were distracting from the lovely views.눇The location. 눉There was some building work going on when we went - Feb 2017 but they did try and keep disturbance to a minimum.눇Food varied and good quality.
