Remember Me? Results 1 to 7 of 7. Thread: Zarqa Henna. November 1st, , AM 1. Zarqa Henna. My hair was feeling a little lack lustre. I'd not done a full head of henna since summer, only glosses for the roots using Lush Caca Rouge which hadn't taken particularly well. Plus I hadn't gotten round to ordering any more henna so when I had the time to henna, I didn't have any henna to use. Though I noticed the international food store in town sold henna. A lot was 'colouring powder' in different shades such as Mahogany, Black, Red, Copper. But there was also Zarqa Henna, 75p for a g box. It didn't say much, though it had an ingredient list with just one ingredient - henna leaves, and a directions - mix with water and leave for 8 hours before use. So it sounded fairly safe. So I got it home, mixed up a few small samples with just water hot and cold to see what the dye release was like. Cold water won as even though it didn't release as quickly if developed a stronger strain which persisted from 6 hours after mixing up until 24 hours after mixing. So I mixed up g with cold water and a splash of red wine. Left it for 8 hours no heat. Then sat it in a bowl of hot water to warm it through a bit so I wouldn't be globbing cold henna on my head. After applying it, wrapped my hair in cling film, used the very dusty blow dryer to warm everything up, and then plopped on a wooly hat that had been sitting on a radiator for half an hour before. Same as I always do. That was last night, this morning after nearly 10 hours I washed it out. I've always seen pictures of people with blazing heads of henna fire on here, but always assumed my hair wasn't light enough in the first place to get such vibrant results. Well this morning, from what I can see poking out of my towel by my forehead, I have hot hot fire red hair! I can't wait till it dries. From now on I will be making henna cold and waiting for dye release as this seems to work. Plus this Zarqa stuff is much finer than my usual stuff and as a result much easier to rinse out. November 1st, , AM 5. Re: Zarqa Henna Here you go. Strangely enough now it's dried my hair seems to be lighter than previously. It looks much more natural. Here's it is still wet in a towel my natural colour is dark blonde From the front Length shot, different colours in the light. I must admit, it is a little too much on the brown side for my liking, but this has been the most powerful henna application yet in my experience. I'll see how it oxidises and may do a few repeat applications to try and push for more red. Failing that I'll go back to my usual of rotating henna with Directions dye similar to Manic Panic.
