What is cleaning and why should you have one?

When a client calls to schedule a camera, snake, or sewer installation, I often ask them the same question: "Do you clean up?" Often this question is encountered with "What is this?" The fact is that cleaning the drain is extremely convenient.

Not only will cleaning make your local Tacoma plumber's job easier, but installing one can also save you money in the long run.

What is cleaning?

A cleanup is a place (usually on the side of the house or in the basement) where you can access your sewer system to remove blockages or monitor pipes. Here in Tacoma, many people clean in their basements. While this is common, it's not always the most convenient place to clean.

Once your plumbing is back up, your basement cleaning will be flooded with water and sewage. If you unplug during your basement cleaning while the drain is clogged, all that water and debris will bubble up and spill into your home. This is why it is a good idea to install drains (or better yet, two-way drains) along the side of your house.

Why should your home have a cleaning?

Whether your drain is clogged or you're just planning on having your camera checked periodically, cleaning will make your life easier and fill your wallet up.

For example, when we are about to test the camera by cleaning, we can show up, run the camera through and pinpoint the problem area like that.

Without cleaning, our technicians will have to go through the roof vent or flush the toilet, which will cost more. In general, it is highly recommended to have outside access to your drain pipes.

Have you cleaned up yet?

While most homes in Tacoma are built by cleaning, they can sometimes be covered with new renovations. They can get lost in drywall or be obscured by other furniture in the house.

This can make it extremely difficult to reach your plumbing in an emergency. If you can't find your cleaner or think you don't have one, we recommend having a technician come and find it for you or have someone install it. Sewer service in Tacoma, Wa
