A sexually active, promiscuous, younger man who often wears alot of flashy jewelery, has greased down, or spiked up hair and keeps a 'chicktionary'. He is well known at most health clinics and may have an STD named after him in his honour. He knows many girls but will often mix up or forget thier names. He will commonly have one or more illegitimate children (though not always, especially in the amateur stage) and his relation with other men is often strained , due to past encounters with girlfriends or wives.

Americans love to throw around the word “whore” -- and Millennials are no different. It’s rarely ever a compliment, frankly, but I will say its crassness varies among whom you say it to.
According to the book – and by “the book,” I mean the dictionary – a “whore” is a prostitute. A prostitute denotes someone who accepts retributions in exchange for some form of sexual favor.
With that said, women who have a lot of sex – generally without any retributions (past a sweatshirt, at the most, for their walk of shame) – get called “whores” just the same.
For dudes, it really isn’t any different. While, in our own circles, we may take pride in our respective “kill count” – like Dexter perusing through his wood box of glass slide “trophies” – it’s not long before men, too, will merit the label “man whore.”
And once earned, regardless of gender, the label is often hard to shake.
So, what’s the deal with whores (cue Jerry Seinfeld voice)?
As it appears, nothing. The word “whore” has simply become one used to describe sexual promiscuity in modern society, and – as science dictates – sexual promiscuity is nothing “modern” whatsoever.
In fact, according to Christopher Ryan , a PhD of psychology, a look at our most primitive ancestors will provide a look into our age-old history of sexual promiscuity.
At the TED2013 conference last year, Ryan told the audience that we’re not simply descended from apes – but, rather, we are apes due to our genetic similarities.
We aren’t like all apes though, as Ryan continues to explain. An average human will generally have sexual intercourse upwards of 1,000 times throughout his or her lifetime, which correlates with the number of times chimps and bonobos will have sex, per birth. Gorillas, on the other hand, enjoy far less sex – at about only 12 times per birth.
While 1,000 times might seem like a lot, especially on average – considering that many religions preach sex as solely a means of reproduction – Ryan argues that it’s human nature to regard sex first as a “bonding experience” and as a vehicle for reproduction, secondarily.
So, if this sexually promiscuous nature is seemingly embedded in our genetic code from birth, “man whores” are the norm – and those more sexually reserved are the exception, right?
Well, not so fast. As Stephen Diamond, PhD writes in Psychology Today , the roots of promiscuity do not lie within one’s aptitude for frequent sexual encounters, but rather one’s lack of sexual discrimination.
Diamond continues to say that repeated bouts of random sexual encounters – in women – can be “commonly seen in various mental disorders.” He then goes on to mention psychosis, manic episodes, substance abuse and a number of different identity disorders as examples, among others.
However, for men, there’s usually a bit of a double standard drawn with regard to indiscriminating sex.
When men act upon their natural instinct to seek out sexual encounters, they’re often applauded for it. In college, in movies, on the radio. The media glorify sexually capable and experienced men as the “alpha males” of their given social environments.
Diamond references Rollo May who, in his magnum opus titled "Love and Will," described sex as a “diamonic.” Diamonics, defined, are natural functions that have the potential to take over an entire person’s thought process.
The word diamonic is often used interchangeably with the word “drive.” As in sex drive, or one’s drive for success.
Part of the reason males in our society are apparently hailed for their promiscuity is that it could reveal something about their overall drive – whether it be for sex, money or power.
Ambition is a commendable trait in American society, almost regardless of the end game. If a man works his ass from 9-5, striving for a better tomorrow – it’s commendable whether it be in the financial district or the back of a kitchen flipping burger patties. Drive is drive.
And in order to contain one’s own drive, one must display restraint.
However, while societal norms might allow less freedom for women to act upon their sexuality, while remaining within the boundaries of “proper etiquette” – science explains that men have a far more potent, and frequent, sexual drive than women.
As Natalie Angier of the New York Times illustrates , it’s common that women will only experience male-type levels of sexual motivation during the few days of the month where they’re fertile.
This owes to the fact that women have a monthly system that regulates their hormones.
Ultimately, everyone has sex drives – regardless of their vigor. It’s a natural aspect of our being, and nothing to condemn, or even hold to some social standard.

This man whore can be in a girls life in either two ways: a) the guy they score randomly or b) the serial dater that they are in a relationship with. If you are with a guy who seems to have a lot of exes, and in the past has jumped from one conquest to another, you are in rough territory. You may be that one girl to change him but you are 99.9% most likely not. The chances of you changing their attitude to life and love, sadly, are very slim.
With Valentine's Day coming up it is time to re-evaluate your relationship and see if this guy is worth sticking around for. Here are my key steps of How To Know You're Dating A Man Whore.
Your boyfriend, or the guy you are dating, has many exes. Almost too many for a student of his age. This man whore has an expiry date for each woman he has been with. So, since he dumped each of these girls after the same amount of time, what's to say he won't do the same to you? Essentially, he has a revolving door for his relationships and each girlfriend must exit accordingly.
Initially, your new man is coming on very strong. He is telling you how amazing you are and how you are the prettiest girl in all of college. He makes you feel like you are the only one for him. Don't get me wrong at first he is infatuated with you but this doesn't last long. Once he sees a slight flaw in your demeanor, or you point out a flaw in him, he will quickly tear down those love goggles and bail.
He is the most charming person you have ever met. He could make a nun weak at the knees. He always knows exactly what to say and he could flirt with a wall. His charm will reel you in but, be warned, he will also use this charm to quite cleverly break up with you.
He is fiercely into his college work and this is an unbelievable trait for that future husband but the man whore puts a different spin on things. He will use the excuse of studying anytime you need him and when he wants to do something, but you're studying, you will have to drop it all. He can make you feel bad for studying and this is unacceptable.
He likes his alone time. He likes his time to think, breath and take in all his deluded actions. There is nothing wrong with wanting your own space but he wants you to be nowhere near him. If he doesn't contact you for two weeks, even if you are his girlfriend, he doesn't care. And he certainly doesn't understand why you care. You are generally concerned about his whereabouts, but this triggers that alarm in his head. You asking him where he was all week signals to him that you are a psycho.
You have noticed a pattern between you and his exes. You all have blonde hair, big boobs and are under 5ft 3inches. This is strange and slightly unsettling. This man whore has a type and he knows how to get them.
He always promises you these romantic, whirlwind dates but you usually just end up eating dominos and watching his favorite film. Last Valentine's Day he said he had booked a romantic getaway, he in fact never had and cancelled seeing you last minute. When you got upset and confronts him he manages to flip it back on you: "we're on the same night out aren't we...Jesus what more can I do for you?."
This man whore is loyal to his friends and family and this is the trait you liked most about him. But he just ditched your date for that McRandomer he met last week in a Massage Therapy elective. This seems a bit extreme. Oh but not to worry, he calls you at 1am to collect him from town and expects you to stay in his. You end up caving because he is so goddamn charming.
Those late night booty calls, those somewhat abusive messages and the insistent texts when they know you are in a lecture or at work. Remember you are not his friend with benefits, you are his girlfriend and this is not okay. If you react badly to any of these calls or messages you are, to him, simply a nut job.
What the man whore serial dater says goes. If you question why him and any of his past girlfriends broke up it is always their fault. They were a psycho, a stage 5 clinger, critical, a bunny boiler or they had a stressful aura about them. When you get in fights you always apologize when he is blatantly wrong. You, most definitely, have a serial dating man whore on your hands.
If you point out something Mr. Right is doing wrong he will be deeply insulted. Even if it is something as simple as "Oh make up with your mum I'm sure she didn't mean to forget to iron your shirts." The man whore serial dater won't flip per say but he will let this anger boil inside him until he has a reason to leave the relationship. And, trust me, he will never turn back.
Even though this man whore calls you his girlfriend behind closed doors, he will never bring you to a family occasion or a party with his friends. If you happen to bump into a family member of his he will be sure to introduce you by your name and never state you are his girlfriend. He won't understand why you are upset by this meet and greet and will mock you for being in any way emotional.

A Fine Line between Failure and Success
"Whore" is , appropriately, a cartoonish response to "Pretty Woman". The cartoonish, satirical bent the film has (in the face of its horrific situations) is exactly what makes it so brilliant. What was so awful about "Pretty Woman" was the commodification of prostitution as something glamorous, fulfilling and rewarding; pablum to be swallowed by American masses. "Whore"'s success depends less on the performances and direction and more on the viewer's willingness to think. The ideology that Ken Russell has placed on the material is unmistakable and renders everything else about the film meaningless. It really comes down to the viewer--If you are intelligent enough as a viewer to read the subtext, you either agree with it or you don't. Personally, I love everything about it, from Teresa Russell's sarcastic, bombastic, career-wrecking performance to the simple joy of seeing Antonio Fargas on screen again, "Whore" is a great, intelligent film worth repeated viewings. The real tragedy is that this will be Ken Russell's last great film. He has lived long enough to see his wonderful style get railroaded into soft-core porn and made-for-cable sci-fi. The world would be a better place if he had been bestowed with the same luck as Paul Verhoeven.
