If you're planning an outfit that needs to look absolutely seamless, you have enough to worry about without focusing on your underwear. That said, it can be hard to find the right panties that won't show through certain fabrics – especially if you're wearing something silky or seamless. Kim Kardashian's Skims Fits Everybody Thong has a wide range of sizes and colors in a breathable fabric, that made it our pick for best overall.

Since the amount of no-show options have grown over the past few years, InStyle spoke with fashion stylist, Calvy Click, to find out what fabrics, styles, and colors to look for based on what you plan on wearing.

These no-show panties will have you ready for your close up sans lines.

What We Love: There is a wide variety of colors and sizes available. What We Don't Love: The most popular styles often sell-out and you'll need to wait for a restock.

In the words of Click, "I love SKIMS for the range of sizes and tones, and the cool factor – so basically everything." We second her on all of those points. It doesn't hurt that the brand founder, Kim Kardashian herself recently admitted on the "Not Skinny But Not Fat" podcast that these are the only panties she will wear.

The brand offers lots of nudes for different skin tones, which can be difficult to find elsewhere. They're also size inclusive, which is a super important consideration. Finally, they're downright comfortable and, of course, undetectable. They're made of polyamide and elastane fabric, which is super soft on the skin and the rise helps to avoid rolling bands. Finally, they're moisture-wicking – so they're the perfect option whether you're heading to the gym or a formal event.

What We Love: The lightweight fabric is comfortable and invisible under all clothes. What We Don't Love: These run small.

Speaking of moving around, the fabric features moisture-wicking COOLMAX at the gusset so that you don't have to worry about that damp feeling during your workout. The edges are raw-cut, which keeps them from showing up no matter how tight your yoga pants or leggings fit.
Finally, in addition to the spandex, these undies are also made from recycled plastic bottles. Who doesn't want to add environmentally-friendly to their list of underwear must-haves?

A good seamless panty is hard to find, but Commando has set themselves apart as the experts. Click describes them as a stylist's "classic, kit-staple," and that's because they are truly barely-there.
Made of nylon and spandex, they are completely raw edged to blend as perfectly as possible. Because they're so stretchy, they also lean more into the one-size-fits-most mantra with XS/S through L-XL options, but we do wish they'd expand further.

Click explains that there are three main components that people should keep in mind when searching for no-show panties: cut, color and texture. When it comes to color, Click says you need to first decide on whether you want your undergarments to match your skin tone or the garment you're wearing. "Don't assume your underpinnings should always match your skin tone," says Click. "Remember when Rihanna didn't wear a bedazzled thong to match her dress and regretted it?"

For cut, think about the hem and the fabric of your outfit. Are there any high hemlines or cut-outs to dodge? For skin tight garments, like leggings, a thong or cheeky cut may help to avoid visible lines or wedgies (or at least a wedgie that wasn't intended to be there).

Finally, you'll definitely want to opt for a seamless pair of undies, preferably with raw edges, if what you're wearing is a silky smooth number. In a final word of caution, Click leaves us with a warning against clear options if your dress is sheer. "Those shiny straps will show through," she says.

If you want completely seamless underwear, you're probably going to want to limit your shopping to styles that contain nylon with spandex or elastane. This way it will lay flush against the skin with no extra bulk. Click also advises people to look for elastic-free edges when possible.

Because the fabric is so thin and delicate, no-show underwear could benefit from a hand wash. However, the time and effort that this takes might not be available to all. The next best thing is to throw all the pairs in a lingerie bag before tossing in your washing machine. The bag keeps the panties from getting tossed around or lost in the vortex of your machine. Be sure to wash your delicates in cold or room temperature water to preserve their elasticity.
