What is Vartagram?

Vartagram is an alternative Telegram client for iPhone/iPad by Cyberpartisan. It is based on the Telegram source code for iOS and uses the same API. The app is available for free and is open source.

Vartagram differs from the original Telegram by its name and application icon. However, inside it looks like Telegram and has all its functions, as well as additional ones:

• Hiding accounts and secret chats of your choice. They are automatically hidden if the app is inactive for a certain amount of time. You have to enter a secret code to display the hidden one. Push notifications for accounts and secret chats are not displayed while hidden. Incoming messages and calls are displayed only after you enter the secret code.

• You can use up to 10 Telegram accounts in the app.
• You can convert voice messages into text even without a Telegram Premium subscription. In this case, Apple speech recognition is used. To convert messages longer than 1 minute, load the required languages in the system settings: Basic -> Keyboard -> Dictation languages.
• You can translate entire chats, groups and channels even without a Telegram Premium subscription. However, there is a limitation - stylised text elements (bold, italics, link) can only be translated if you have a Telegram Premium subscription.
• You can customise the appearance of channels: hide reactions, comments, captions, forward button, mute/unmute button. You can turn on displaying posts to the width of the whole screen to make long texts look shorter.
• You can turn off notifications about reactions to your messages.
• You can see the ID of a user, chat or Telegram channel in their profile.
• By default, your phone number and ID are hidden from view in the Settings tab. Pull down to see them.
• You can see the date your channels were created.
• You can change how the Go to Next Unread Channel feature works so that it goes to the channels at the bottom of the list first. Or you can switch this function off altogether.
• For video messages, you can change the default camera (front or back).
• In the chat list, you can disable actions when swiping chats to prevent accidental actions (deleting, archiving, pinning, etc.).
• Fixed a number of bugs in the original Telegram app.

If you have a Telegram Premium subscription, the premium features will work in Vartagram as well.

If the app doesn't masquerade as the original Telegram, what's the point of it?

We do not position the app only as a “partisan” app. It can be used by anyone who could use its additional features.

Hiding some accounts and secret chats by default to ensure privacy is just one of the functions.

We understand that the very use of the app in Belarus raises suspicions that something is hidden in it. But even if something is really hidden, it cannot be found out without knowing the secret code. And other useful features of Vartagram justify its installation without hiding something.
