Yep, the scenario is set for absolutely nothing credible to happen, there's too much padding from part 1 and yep, the cue for one of those is Beast, the dog, reminiscing events from the previous installment!!!! But you know what? All of it only adds more fun to the whole affair! Ruby, Bobby and even Pluto reappearing are nothing but part of the padding and even Michael Berryman's character puts it in words better than anybody else would: "he padded me up real good." However, this being more a typical slasher (with Harry Manfredini from the Friday the 13th franchise setting the mood to that effect like only he can) than whatever the original was, moves along at a brisk pace and there's even a couple of jump scares to be had. Craven, the man who, right after this, brought us probably the absolute masterpiece of horror in the form of A Nightmare on Elm Street, among at least two other genre- defining, groundbreaking classics, did better than most run of the mill slasher directors from the era at his very Nadir, so to speak... The highlight, just like in part one and most of his best- remembered efforts, the booby traps. This one has probably the highest count of all. What really didn't work for me was the poor lighting in places. Most of the action takes place at night. However, once we get to Reaper's special spot, it's good enough to suggest nastier things than what may have really been there had the place had more light. Fun, a lot, for all the wrong reasons mostly, but that's what a movie is supposed to be for me... The end justifies the means... What probably puts a lot of people off, or some find indeed too “horrific” to take, is the copious amount of racial and disability jokes... goes way off the scale in that department. Never hurts to warn those too sensitive...

Typical 80's slasher movie with very bad acting, but is a little enjoyable just for the cheesiness. The dog "Beast" is the only one with any brains in the movie, as all human characters are pretty inept and commit the classic errors that the "victims" always commit in horror movies (Who takes a shower in the middle of the night in an abandoned mining town square in the middle of the desert when friends are dying around you?). Watched this because I wanted a jaunt to the past. Ok movie, watched for free but not worth paying for!
