WWE RAW Moves to Netflix in Historic $5 Billion Deal

January 23, 2024 – In a groundbreaking shift for sports entertainment, WWE has announced that Monday Night RAW will stream exclusively on Netflix starting in 2025. The 10-year deal, valued at over $5 billion, marks one of the biggest media rights agreements in wrestling history and signals a major move for WWE under the TKO Group Holdings banner.

A New Era for WWE Programming

Netflix will become the new home for RAW, WWE’s flagship weekly show, which has aired on linear television for over 30 years. Since its debut in 1993, RAW has been a staple on USA Network, but the shift to streaming reflects the changing landscape of sports and entertainment consumption.

Under the deal, Netflix will also host WWE’s other premium live events outside the U.S., including SmackDown and NXT specials, further expanding its live sports offerings. However, in the U.S., SmackDown will remain on Fox, while NXT stays on USA Network.

Why Netflix?

Netflix has been aggressively expanding into live sports and events, with recent ventures including The Netflix Cup (a golf crossover with Formula 1) and a deal to stream WWE’s WrestleMania, SummerSlam, and other major pay-per-views internationally. The addition of RAW solidifies Netflix’s push into live entertainment.

'This deal is transformative,' said Mark Shapiro, President of TKO Group. 'Netflix’s global reach will bring RAW to more fans than ever before.'

What This Means for Fans

Starting January 2025, U.S. viewers will need a Netflix subscription to watch RAW live each Monday night. International fans will also gain access to WWE’s premium live events at no extra cost beyond their Netflix membership.

WWE Chief Content Officer Paul 'Triple H' Levesque assured fans that the in-ring product will remain unchanged. 'The same RAW you love—the drama, the action, the surprises—will now be on Netflix, reaching a whole new audience.'

Industry Impact

The move underscores the growing trend of major sports properties migrating to streaming platforms. With WWE’s previous domestic rights deals totaling around $1.4 billion across NBCUniversal (USA Network) and Fox, the Netflix agreement represents a massive financial leap.

As WWE prepares for this transition, questions remain about how traditional cable audiences will adapt. However, with Netflix’s 260 million global subscribers, the company is betting on a new generation of fans to fuel RAW’s next chapter.
