Vitor Belfort Announces Comeback Fight in New MMA Promotion

Los Angeles, CA – May 11, 2025 – Former UFC light heavyweight champion and MMA legend Vitor 'The Phenom' Belfort has announced his return to professional fighting at the age of 48. Belfort, who last competed in a boxing match against former heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield in 2021, revealed that he has signed a multi-fight deal with the newly formed Global Combat Championship (GCC).

A Legend Returns

Belfort, known for his explosive knockout power and historic career in the UFC, PRIDE, and Affliction, will headline GCC’s inaugural event later this year. The promotion, backed by international investors, aims to blend MMA, boxing, and special-rules fights, with Belfort as its marquee star.

'I'm not done yet,' Belfort said at a press conference in Los Angeles. 'I feel better than ever, and I want to show the world that age is just a number. GCC is the future, and I’m here to make history again.'

Potential Opponents

While Belfort’s first opponent has yet to be confirmed, rumors suggest he could face another MMA veteran or even a crossover boxing star. Names like Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson, Anderson Silva (in a rematch), or even YouTube-turned-boxer Jake Paul have been floated as possibilities.
