Vintage Works is what I call my small, hobby woodworking shop located near the front range of the Colorado Rockies. In my shop, I build to order, classic 1950's and 1960's replica Bear (Grayling Classic) bows from the early Grayling era. I build them one at a time, by hand, with extra care to detail. The accompanying photos show only a small sample of the handle woods and laminations available. Bows come in the standard Grayling factory woods or they can be built to customer specifications. Thank you to all our customers! We have stopped making bows for now due to health issues.

Some commonly asked questions: Q: Do the bows stack at all? A: The bows have little or no stack. They draw very evenly throughout their range of motion. Obviously each length has its limits. A 56" bow has a shorter range of motion than a 60" bow and so on. Bear Archery stated in their catalogs that a 60" bow can be drawn to 33". Q: How fast are the different bow models? A: The 1959 Grayling Classic with its improved limb , will launch a 9 gpp arrow at 189 - 192 feet per second (fps). The other bows are as follows: 1961/1962 Grayling Classic at 195 - 198 fps, the 1964 Grayling Classic at 188 - 191 fps and the Hybrid at 195 - 198 fps. Adding carbon to any of these bows will increase the speed by approximately 4 fps.
