Driver pleads with Just Stop Oil protesters to let him get his wife to hospital

A convicted killer tied a boy’s hands behind his back, blindfolded him and raped him in a closet, a court heard.
Twisted Ben Murphy subjected the teen to a horrific assault after meeting him on the bus and then grooming him with cigarettes.
Just years earlier the sick 31-year-old had killed his best friend after tragic Adrian Palmer, 21, had accused him of rape.
A Crown Prosecution Service investigation came to nothing and the Independent Police Complaints Commission later ruled West Mercia Police had failed to properly investigate.
Today Murphy is starting a life sentence for rape but has been told he has to serve a minimum of just eight years.
The family of Mr Palmer said they now feel he has been vindicated after his failed complaint.
Worcester Crown Court heard that after meeting his teenage rape victim, Murphy forced the boy to meet him at a pub before they took a taxi to his flat in Kidderminster, Worcestershire in December 2016.
Murphy told the boy to take off his coat in an alleyway and bound his arms behind his back with duct tape before wrapping thin black fabric around his head so he couldn’t see.
The victim, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was then subjected to a two-hour ordeal in which he was raped and left with numerous cuts and scratches.
He told the youngster: ‘You want to see how violent I can get? Things can get nasty- big problems.’
In 2006, Murphy was sentenced to just four years for the manslaughter of his vulnerable childhood friend.
Mr Palmer, who had Asberger’s syndrome, was strangled and his body found dumped in an alleyway by a postal worker. Murphy was described as showing ‘a high degree of callousness and recklessness’ in dumping the body.
He had been cleared of murder after two trials.
His teenage victim knew about Murphy’s conviction for manslaughter which had ‘a massive impact on the fears he had’, the court was told.
Murphy was released by 2010 and just months later was ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register for five years after admitting making indecent images of young boys.
In the latest case, Murphy pleaded guilty to two counts of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity and to seven counts of making indecent photographs of a child plus rape and false imprisonment.
However, he did not appear for sentencing at Worcester Crown Court yesterday after claiming to be ‘ill’ – although a nurse could find nothing wrong with him.
Judge Daniel Pearce-Higgins QC said Murphy had sought to avoid ‘the day of judgement’ as he jailed him for life, to serve a minimum of eight years.
The judge described the defendant as ‘dangerous’ and said he posed a ‘significant risk’ to the public and particularly young boys.
After the conviction, the grandparents of Adrian Palmer, Andrew and Margaret Palmer who attended the hearing read out a statement
Mrs Palmer said: ‘We feel Adrian has been vindicated.
‘Murphy is a danger to young people. Parents, watch out for young boys and vulnerable young men. We feel for that family. We feel really, really bad for them.’

Two underage boys were tied up and kept in a man's house overnight, after one entered his daughter's room with a knife.
According to a police document filed last week a young male went into Mohamed Mohamed-Sidik's house in West Valley City, Utah on August 17 to visit his underage daughter.
The girl then yelled for her father, who entered the room and grabbed the child.
Mohamed Mohamed-Sidik's tied up the boys and kept them in his house over night after his daughter yelled for help
The man, with the help of his son, proceeded to strip and tie up the boy-leaving him nude in the house.
In an odd twist Mohamed-Sidik forced the tied-up boy to call his underage male friend who was waiting outside to enter the house.
Upon entering the home the boy was apprehended by Mohamed-Sidik and like his friend was bound by rope although he remained fully clothed.
The victims and the man's children cannot be named because they are underage.
The police report says the man held the boys at knife point and took everything from the victims' pockets including cell phones, cigarettes, gum and a knife.
The two boys in a witness statement also said they were threatened and kept tied up for eight hours over night until they were released in the morning.
The police document released by the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office detailing the crime
Upon being freed they said the man gave them some of their items, money and allowed to leave.
However Mohamed-Sidik kept the knife, cigarette and gum. He gave the police the remaining items when he was taken in for questioning.
He also gave officers the rope he used to tie up the two victims.
Mohamed-Sidik and his son admitted to tying up the boys and withhold their possessions, according to the Salt Lake Country Sheriff's Office.
He is facing charges including aggravated kidnapping, robbery and assault.
