OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER MAKE BLOCKBUSTER TRADEHEADLINE: Thunder Acquire All-Star Forward in Shocking Pre-Draft Move

Oklahoma City – June 18, 2024 – In a move that has sent shockwaves through the NBA, the Oklahoma City Thunder have reportedly acquired All-Star forward Pascal Siakam from the Toronto Raptors in exchange for a package centered around draft picks and young talent.

According to league sources, the Thunder will send Josh Giddey, Tre Mann, and two future first-round picks (2025 via Miami, 2027 via Denver) to Toronto in exchange for Siakam, a two-time All-NBA selection and 2019 NBA champion.

Why This Trade Makes Sense

The Thunder, coming off a surprising 57-win season and a trip to the Western Conference Finals, are clearly shifting from rebuild to contention. Siakam, 30, provides veteran leadership, playoff experience, and a versatile two-way game that complements MVP candidate Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and rising star Chet Holmgren.

Meanwhile, the Raptors continue their youth movement, adding the playmaking of Giddey (21) and additional draft capital to accelerate their rebuild.

Thunder fans took to social media with mixed emotions—excitement over adding a proven star, but sadness over losing fan favorite Giddey. 'It’s bittersweet,' said longtime season ticket holder Mark Reynolds. 'But if this gets us closer to a title, you have to trust [GM] Sam Presti.'
