The Ford Puma Reveal
Robert Wallis
After the teaser video on Monday we are now at Reveal day for the new Ford Puma.
I tweeted for @FordEU including a custom thumbnail for the 10 second video, a link to where users can watch the full reveal film (plus more Puma content) and the product SmartLink which takes users to their national Ford website Puma page where it is available.
How are other tweets looking so far ...
For tweets which may be promoted I understand that the product SmartLink is not suitable, rather a unique trackable shortlink should be used.
Ideally though tweets would still contain a custom video thumbnail, a call-to-action link and the product hashtag.

Video Thumbnail, Video Link, Copy Link, Hashtag ...

Austria (screenshot above as the original tweet has been deleted): No video thumbnail, no in-video link, there is a copy link but it's the wrong link (it should go here) and there is no product hashtag. Not a great start.
Next.
Germany: no video thumbnail, no in-video link, there is a copy link to the correct page and there is the product hashtag.
Next.
Portugal: no video thumbnail, no in-video link, there is a copy link to the correct page, but it is not tracked so could have been the SmartLink and there is no product hashtag.
Next.
Switzerland: no video thumbnail, no in-video link, no copy link though an attempt was made and no product hashtag.
Next.
France: no custom thumbnail, no in-video link, no copy link. The product hashtag was used.
Next.
UK: no custom thumbnail, no in-video link, the copy link is not tracked so could have been the SmartLink, the product hashtag was used.
Next.
Spain: no custom thumbnail, no in-video link, there is a tracked copy link and numerous hashtags including the product hashtag.
Next.
Portugal: no thumbnail, no in-video link, a non tracked copy link which could have been the SmartLink and no product hashtag.
Next.
Netherland: no custom thumbnail, no in-video link, there is a tracked copy link and the product hashtag is used.
Next.
Italy: no custom thumbnail, no in-video link, a tracked short link is used as is the product hashtag plus others.
Next.
Poland: no custom thumbnail, no in-video link, a tracked short-link is used, but no product hashtag.
Next.
Austria: no video thumbnail, no in-video link, a tracked shortlink is used in the copy, no product hashtag included.
Next.
Denmark: no custom video thumbnail, no in-video link, a shortened trackable link wa included and the product hashtag was used.
Next.
Turkey: used the wrong asset. I'm assuming that is a custom video thumbnail, it was posted from Twitter's media studio so that is likely. There is not in-video link though, no CTA copy link. The product hashtag has been used.
.... I will update with more as they are published. But it seems that there is still a way to go before we are optimal.
To be fair if a third-party publishing tool is used, which it was in most cases, then it might not be possible to add a custom video thumbnail, or in-video link. But a trackable link CTA link in the copy and the product hashtag should have been expect in all cases, unless I am missing something?
