地球温暖化や海洋汚染、森林破壊など、地球環境は深刻な危機に直面しています。こうした中、SDGs(持続可能な開発目標)が国際社会で合意されたことを受け、気候変動の緩和・適応や、循環型社会の形成に向けた目標や枠組みの整備が加速し、企業への取り組み要請や期待は一層高まっています。
環境課題はファミリーマートの事業にも大きな影響を及ぼすことから、環境課題の解決に向けて積極的に取り組むと同時に、SDGsに貢献する企業として持続可能な社会の実現に貢献したいと考えています。
ファミリーマートは、地域社会を「ファミリー」（家族）と捉え、商品・サービスの提供とともに、持続可能な地域・社会づくりに貢献することを目指しています。この考え方を基に、環境マネジメントシステムを通じて、環境関連諸法規の遵守にとどまらず、サステナビリティ目標を設定して、環境問題の解決に取り組みます。
店舗を中心に事業を展開するファミリーマートにとって、日々の生活に密接し影響も大きい環境問題は、特に重要な課題です。
ファミリーマートは、1999年3月、すべての店舗と事業所でISO14001の認証を取得し、環境マネジメントシステムに則った環境配慮型のコンビニエンスストアづくりを行っています。
今後においても、環境マネジメントシステムを強化し、さらなる環境対応を推進していきます。
全国に店舗網を持つファミリーマートでは、地域社会やお取引先と連携しながらサプライチェーン全体で環境配慮への取り組みを進めています。店舗の設備や営業活動から、各地域の環境美化までも視野に入れ、事業を通じてより確実で効率の良い環境対策を広げていきます。
サステナビリティ推進部が部・室、地域を統括する事業所と連携し、サステナビリティ実施計画に基づいた取り組みを行っています。店舗の環境マネジメントシステムの維持・改善は、コンサルティング業務を行うスーパーバイザーが定期的に店舗を巡回する際に、環境マネジメントシステムに関する指針や改善策を店舗に伝えています。
ファミリーマートは、CO₂排出、廃棄物、排水など、さまざまな環境負荷を伴いながら事業を継続してきました。これらの環境負荷を把握・削減することから、持続可能な社会づくりへの貢献を進め、今後も事業を発展させていきます。
ファミリーマートは廃棄物排出量データの公表にあたり、株式会社日本環境認証機構の第三者検証を受けています。2021年度においては、店舗から日常的に排出される廃棄物量が280,936t、うち食品廃棄物が60,415tであることが認められました。第三者検証の結果を受けて、今後も公表数値の正確性と社内外からの信頼向上につなげる取り組みを継続します。
