Official Telegram Apps for All Platforms

Most of us already know that Telegram is a cross-platform messenger app which means we can use Telegram on a variety of devices, and can log in to Telegram to access messages anytime, from as many mobile or desktop devices as we like — all at the same time.

Thus, we know that we can use Telegram on smartphones, tablets, and even computers. We have apps for iOS (6 and above), Android (4.1 and up) and Windows Phone. We can also use Telegram's web version, can install Telegram Chrome app or install one of our desktop apps for Windows, OSX, and Linux. And probably we also know that we additionally have portable version of Telegram which we can extract to a folder on our pen drive, and can use it on any computer just by inserting our pen drive and opening the Telegram app from pen drive itself.

Some Unofficial Telegram Apps

Telegram is an open source app which means anyone can view the internal programming instructions that make it tick, or in other words, its source code is available freely to all, and anyone can use it to create their version of Telegram, and can even add the features that they want.

As a result of this openness, other than all the apps for different devices and operating systems, we have the luxury of lots of unofficial versions of Telegram ("alternative client apps") to choose from in addition to the two official versions: Telegram (Classic version), and the new official Telegram X (X = "eXperimental" version).

Although we recommend regular users to stay with official classic version, but still if you are one of those adventurous, tech-savvy users who feel comfortable with trying new apps and new (sometimes unstable) features, you can try the alternative unofficial Telegram apps too.

From the scores of unofficial apps, we are sharing some selective unofficial Telegram apps which are counted among the best, are quite stable for regular use, and have lots of additonal features.

For Android:

  • 🆕 (Added: Feb14, 2021) Nekogram X for Telegram (Open Source, updated frequently, recommended 👍🏼👍🏼)
  • BiftoGram (Renamed to BGram)
  • Plus Messenger 👍🏼
  • LagatGram
  • Telegram X: It started as an unofficial version. But it has now been announced as an alternative official version which is separately being maintained. Some users like this official version for its speed and some experimental features, although we think it is still not as stable, lacks many new features of the standard version, and has not been updated from quite some time.
  • Telegraph Messenger
  • Tele Pro
There are lots of other unofficial Telegram apps. But we have covered only some apps that are more popular.
The purpose of sharing these unofficial versions is mostly for information sake. Using them or not should be your decision only. You can try these, or you can stick to the official versions only.
