Of all the merchandise and various turtle forms the arcade game was by far the most exciting and the new game embraces all the popular elements of the original game while also bringing something new to the table.
Gamers will have the chance to play as their favourite turtle and make their way through six challenging stages. On the way there will be plenty of opportunities to enjoy the turtle’s personality traits while you search for scroll and battle any bad guys that come in your path. As always, Splinter is on hand to impart is wisdom and give out hints and tips that can come in very useful during the later stages.
Finding certain items will unlock special effects as well as a range of special attack moves. Players will also have the chance to interact with other popular characters such as April O’Neal, Casey Jones, Shredder and Baxter Stockman. As you progress you can unlock some of the character art from the cartoon series, which brings yet more nostalgia with it.
Story mode allows players to simply sit back and watch the action unfold if they want, while people who simply want to get on with the action can skip this section if they prefer. Unfortunately, while there are plenty of baddies to fight, the mousers are strangely missing from this instalment of the franchise.
Despite the fact that you are given a large collection of weapons to choose from, many of these weapons such as the shrunken seem to do very little damage. It is worth taking a little time to learn the weapons so you can make the most impact when you go into battle.
A two player mode is also available, allowing best buds the chance to play against each other. Gamers can also play against the computer if they choose, which can be as easy or as challenging as you wish depending on the difficulty setting that you select.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is the game that fans have been waiting for and doesn’t disappoint. It has been well created with plenty of imagination, wit and humour and there is a lot for players to do. This game was certainly worth the wait and players of all ages are sure to find plenty of great elements to the game that they enjoy.
