Here is the prior post and the main post.

Augusto Espinosa is his name (373)

Finally got his information. Local governments sure do like to stall information requests. I've done another Texas PIA request to get more info on him. Apparently, they denied me his work history because I used the word "resume" when I made my request or some other technicality. It's dumb.

I'm glad I asked for his dash camera video as well. Didn't expect it, but since I got it I can be certain I've got the right guy (the patrol number on the back of their vehicles are small and long). Too bad there is no audio.

Sheriff Chody arrested

In a bizarre turn of events, Sheriff Chody from my old home of Williamson County, TX was arrested. They charged him and an attorney for Williamson County for destroying audio and video evidence related to a death from his deputies that happened in Travis County (one county down; where Austin, TX is).

It's interesting to see the Travis County District Attorney say (quoting the local news):

[T]he Williamson County Sheriff’s Office “stonewalled” the county’s investigation into the death.

I had a similar experience when trying to get just the department's deputy roster. They kept appealing over pointless things and each appeal would cause a 45 day delay.

Interesting, A&E reality show “Live P.D.” filmed the death so they had plenty of footage but all the footage got destroyed. I'm assuming the custody of the film went to the Williamson County Sheriff's Office.

I get the feeling the sheriff did destroy the evidence to protect his men. It's very much a boys' club over there. Considering how things played out with my other sheriff in Arizona, the infamous Joe Arpaio, nothing will probably happen to Chody.

But, honestly, the whole situation feels odd. It's a weird place over there, and I'm glad to be gone.

Click here to read what I've already written about the Williamson County Sheriff's Office. It's some strange stuff.
