Switching to Telegram

Switching to Telegram

Hi! Are you a WhatsApp user? Have you considered using an alternative to it? The best messaging app is Telegram.

Switch to Telegram. Fast. Seamlessly. Permanently.

Here is the switching guide.

4-step instruction below:

1. Download Telegram from here and log in. Enable app notifications if you disabled them previously. If you already have many unimportant chats here, you may use archive or folder feature, and disable notifications only for these chats, selecting all of them.

2. Don’t worry about losing your messaging history because when you switch to a new phone, WhatsApp (unlike Telegram) doesn’t transfer your messages automatically. But still, you can export important chats, if you have (https://telegra.ph/Exporting-WhatsApp-chat-history-06-23). Then you can import those chats into Telegram (by “sharing” the message history with Telegram chats).

3. Inform your contacts about your switching to Telegram. Create a broadcast list and add everybody you will contact in the future to that list. (https://telegra.ph/Creating-a-broadcast-list-on-WhatsApp-06-23). Then send this message to that broadcast:

Hi! I am switching to Telegram! Read more: <shortened link to this article>. Don’t reply here.

Keep that link with yourself to use in the future. You may also need to create multiple broadcasts to send a message in different languages. If you have Facebook Messenger or Instagram, you will get the ability to contact WhatsApp users in future.

4. Delete your WhatsApp account, then delete WhatsApp from your phone. (https://www.wikihow.tech/Delete-Your-WhatsApp-Account) Otherwise, you will face confusion and inconvenience of using both apps at the same time.
