i performed oral on a guy i met on the internet. he said he was hiv-. i told him to let me know when he was going to cum so he wouldnt cum in my mouth. instead he came in my mouth and i couldnt pull away because he held the back of my head. i ended up swallow half of it before i spit out the rest. he said if i was worried about hiv i should have swallowed all of it because its safer. not sure why that is. assuming he was hiv+, is it harder to get hiv if i swallow or spit it out? thanks dr. bob for helping everyone out here.
You told the dude not to cum in your mouth and yet he held the back of your head while you gagged on his tallywhacker and spunked down your throat??? Nice guy. Bet he doesn't get many second dates.
The spit or swallow controversy has yet to be definitively settled. As Samantha on Sex in the City said when being questioned on the topic, "I only swallow when surprised." Gosh, whatever happened to the full-throated yelps of "Oh God, Oh God, Ohhhhhh God, I'm gonna shoot, I'm gonna shoot, Oh God I'm gonna . . . Ahhhhhhhhh . . . ." Everyone should give at least that well recognized warning that "something's coming!" I'll reprint a post from the archives that addresses your spit/swallow dilemma.
Oral Sex with HIV+ & Swallowing
Mar 11, 2007
I just came across yuor website and found it very informative as well as at times amusing; not that I'm making fun of any situation, but you gotta admit it: "eyelashes enlargement" being a sign of HIV is a stretch.
Anyway, I'm reaching out to you because I'm HIV+ with undetectable viral load and my boyfriend is HIV-. Last week accidentally, he swallowed some of my cum. Now I'm being the paranoid freak only because I love him and care for him so much...
What are your thoughts, should we be concerned at all?
You are a very inspiring professionsl - great work!
Should you be concerned? Well, are his eyelashes enlarging?
Relax, Max. Oral sex carries a very low risk for HIV transmission. The question about spit or swallow really hasn't been fully answered. There are components in saliva that deactivate the virus and stomach acids would certainly destroy any virus that landed there. See post from archives below. If you and/or your partner are concerned, a screening HIV rapid test at the three-month mark would put those fears permanently to rest, OK?
Different Aussie with Concerns Jan 24, 2004
Hi, While I was in Sydney over Christmas - I visited a restroom and gave oral sex to a man who came in my mouth. I spat most of it out but swallowed an ammount (not much). I understand that unprotected oral sex is not safe sex (though considered lower risk); my question is the old spit or swallow one - which is the most advisable in that situation. Since returning home to Brisbane - i have experienced 2 blisters on the roof of my mouth - How concerned should I be? Is this a sign of something? Or a reaction between my medication...as
I also have BiPolar Affective Disorder with Psychotic features - i'm on Lithium, Effexor, Avanza and Seroquel. Quite worried SGP
So you went down in the land down under? The spit or swallow controversy continues. Oral sex in general, as you point out, carries a very low risk for HIV transmission. The risk for other STD's is higher. Regarding HIV, the insertive partner has less risk than a receptive partner (oral, vaginal, or anal). Not getting spunked (no ejaculation) is, in general, also considered less risky. However, once you've got a mouthful of liquid protein, perhaps the best advice is to get rid of it either by spitting it out or swallowing it quickly. Is one method safer than the other? Most guides would recommend spitting over swallowing, but we really don't know for sure. Stomach acids would certainly quickly kill the virus very quickly. Theoretically, you don't want infected spunk to be in contact with mucous membranes (like the inside of your mouth and throat) for very long. Minimizing this contact decreases the risk that HIV will be absorbed. So spit when you can, swallow quickly when you must, and do not use someone's jiz as a trendy new mouthwash to gargle with, even if you do like the taste better than Listerine.

Students at an Australian university have been caught participating in a grotesque college initiation ritual involving drinking alcohol from their peers' penises.
An annual 'Lad's Weekend' for new and old students of University of Newcastle's Evatt House was said to involve male college-goers participating in a variety of bizarre drinking practices.
Most notable being male students, understood to be first years, kneeling down in front of older students and drinking from a cup made from the loose skin above their penis.
A former student has claimed to news.com.au that each year a large group of men from the 'country kid's college' traveled south to Melbourne for their initiation pilgrimage.
Dressed in suits purchased from thrift stores, the 'lads' generally embarked on the weekend away a few months after orientation week, which started on Monday.
The student told the publication students were known to perform the bizarre rituals in open public spaces, such as Catani Gardens in St Kilda, where few things were considered 'off limits'.
A former 'lad' revealed that each new student was 'assigned' a returning student prior to the weekend away, whereby 'the returning student essentially treats their fresher like sh*t'.
An annual 'Lad's Weekend' for new and old students of University of Newcastle's Evatt House was said to involve male college-goers drinking from each others' penises
'We treat you like sh*t and next year you get to treat someone else like sh*t. It's a sick cycle,' he told the publication.
Among 'penis drinking' rituals, which were understood to have been ongoing since 2014, was several other degrading practices forced onto new students.
Another involves 'freshers' wearing dog collars and having to drink water from dog bowls outside cafes, as well as receiving embarrassing shaved hair cuts.
Among 'penis drinking' rituals was several other degrading practices forced onto new students, including drinking their own vomit
In one instance, a male would need to drink alcohol being poured down someone's shaven scalp, and another they would be forced to drink from the spinning wheel of a bin.
The former student also told the publication that an ongoing Evatt House tradition involved pairs of students racing to finish 24 beers, and drinking their own vomit to stay in the competition.
University of Newcastle said safety of its students was a top priority and it took 'any reports of inappropriate behaviour very seriously'.
'The University is appalled at the behaviour displayed in these images, and the footage which we understand was taken in Melbourne some years ago,' a spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia.
'The University takes all allegations of student misconduct seriously and act swiftly to remove offensive behaviour from our campuses where it is reported.
'As well as the education and preventative measures, students found to have behaved in this way are subject to severe penalties.'
End Rape On Campus Australia said it was 'problematic' that these rituals often took advantage of vulnerable junior students.
'Those which involve sexual contact are completely unacceptable and have the potential to become unlawful, especially if a student is ever pressured, forced or coerced into participating,' director,Sharna Bremner said.

A boy took his father's Viagra tablets to school and handed them out to his friends during their lunch break.
The youngster and five fellow pupils, all aged 12 and 13, were taken to hospital after swallowing the powerful anti-impotence drug.
He has now been suspended from his high-achieving school for 'actions which placed other pupils at risk'.
The six boys each took one of the blue tablets, but a classmate became concerned and alerted staff at the Forest School, Winnersh, Berkshire.
The pupils were taken to the Royal Berkshire Hospital, Reading. An ambulance service spokesman said: 'Their conditions were monitored regularly.
'However, they did not suffer any side-effects and they were fine. They were then released.'
The spokesman added: 'As far as I know, the Viagra did not have its usual effect on the children.'
Parents of the boys involved claimed the children had no idea what they were doing when they took the drug.
However, a sixth-former at the school said: 'I would not take it and it is a very immature thing to do.
'It's very dangerous to take something if you don't know what it is - it could have been lethal.'
Launched by Pfizer in a blaze of publicity five years ago, Viagra was seen as a breakthrough in the treatment of male impotence.
Although it should only be prescribed by a doctor, it is available through the Internet, meaning health checks on potential users are often not carried out.
Experts warned that the drug is untested on children.
Dr Alan Tang, of the Royal Berkshire Hospital's Florey Unit, which specialises in sexual health, said Viagra could be lethal if combined with other drugs.
'Viagra has not been tested on boys that age,' he added. 'In terms of dysfunction, it is not likely to have any particular effect. But it could combine with other medication which could be potentially fatal.
'In adults, it has been shown to be dangerous when combined with medication for some heart conditions. If my son did something like that, I would be quite horrified.'
The incident also led to calls for parents to keep a closer eye on medication kept at home. One father, whose son attends Forest School but was not involved in the incident last Thursday, said: 'Parents should teach their children more about what they are taking and the dangers of taking anything like Viagra, even check their rooms if necessary.'
Last year, 70 per cent of pupils at Forest School achieved five good GCSEs, putting it 864th out of more than 3,500 schools nationwide.
The school said: 'It is believed that a pupil brought the tablets in from home.
'The school responded quickly to the situation and, as a precaution-paramedics were called. All six have subsequently been discharged and are not expected to suffer any ill- effects. All of the tablets have been accounted for.
'The school has a strict no-drugs policy and a pupil will be temporarily excluded.'

The euphoric sex-on-the-beach atmosphere was full throttle from the get-go.

If your gay-boy libido didn’t kick into overdrive at PhillyGayCalendar’s Boys of Summer event on Saturday at Voyeur, you should probably see a doctor — pronto. Titillating twinks, beefy bears, macho muscle studs, a bevy of queens gawking from a distance — to be sure, there was no lack of diversity (or sexual chemistry) populating this year’s Main Event. And though the summer soiree didn’t heat up until shortly after 11 p.m. (probably because of Tabu’s Bearlesque at 10), the euphoric sex-on-the-beach atmosphere was full throttle from the get-go.
Promptly at 9 p.m., toned and tanned go-go boys took the stage in their undies to gyrate their hips around glowing, rainbow-colored hula hoops as chiseled men in their crotch-clutching swimsuits trickled into the venue. Prancing about all the while was MC-substitute drag diva Satine Harlow. (She was filling in for Goddess Isis, whose basement flooded earlier in the day — the basement where she keeps all her drag.) Natalia Kills took the stage around 1:30 a.m., after coming from Bearlesque where she watched and reportedly loved an all-bear’d-up version of her song, “ Problem .” Too cute!
But the gist of the night’s festivities boiled down to boys, boys and more boys – and that’s exactly what we captured while in attendance. See the man meat for yourself in the photos and video of Natalia Kills performing with nearly naked G Philly cover model Gunnar Montana below.
