North by Northwest 1959 Eva Marie Saint made mount Rushmore interesting for the first time ever lol, its a can/usa thing. but she did have great legs.
A very quick vote for Lesley-Ann Down in 'The First Great Train Robbery' (formative or what?!?!) but I'm AMAZED no one has yet mentioned Natalie Wood in 'The Great Race.' Stockings, suspenders, corset and custard pies full in the face. What's not to love?

No D, you didn't imagine it. The Great Race is a classic Tony Curtis (as 'The Great Leslie') & Jack Lemmon (as 'Professor Fate') & Pater Falk (as 'Max') slapstick comedy movie! Parts of it are rather hilarious with some great dry humour interspersed throughout as well. Some great lines in the movie too. Like, "Rise and shine?!... Rise and shine?!... You rise!... And you shine!" -and- "Up and Adam?!... Up and Adam?!" -and- "Push the button, Max!" . . . and several others related to the Woman's Suffrage Movement and intolerable male chauvinism, etc.
My wife couldn't stop rolling her eyes― at the movie . . . but I thought (and still do think) it was a classic, as slapsticks go.
I saw Some Like It Hot on Straight Seams list and two scenes really stand out. One is where Marilyn Monroe asks Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis to look and see if her seams are straight. Wow, What great legs! The other is on the train and annonimous member of the all girls orchestra is in an upper berth in the sleeper car getting ready for bed. All you see is a gorgeous pair of legs and feet sticking out from behind the curtain sensually removing the most beautiful ff stockings. When I watch that dvd and it gets to that part, glad to have slow motion, rewind. and replay. Believe me it's memorable!
Like others I have mentioned this before, Maureen O Hara was I think a stockings fan? at one time it seemed any "suitable" film she was in (ie not when cast as a pirate or in some western film) she'd be making a show of her stockings? wearing black when rest in tan or in fully fashioned in early rht era with more than once an "uncalled for" excuse to show such, changing them or a dress to reveal such but all in the best possible taste as kenny Everett would have said,
Much has been said of Sophia Loren, another "fan" however it's only recently (in her 70's) that I've seen a seams photo of her? given her age and her films theres no doubt she would have worn ff's "for real" but I never saw a seams sighting, maybe she considered such dated? (In Arabesque (1966) she wore both stockings and tights in same film "as normal wear" depending on skirt length. (little seen though)
Another rarely mentioned film, "Made in Heaven" (1952) featured Petula Clark, then 19 as a newly wed, no "striptease" or anything but it would appear she wore blackfoot plain knit nylons as normal wear throughout the whole filming, such being seen on her in every scene inc a memorable long close up where she's pacing the floor waiting for her husband, she's also in those v high pre stiletto heel shoes of the era (ala Bety Page) and the film is shot in that bright gaudy technicolor then popular adding to the effect! lovely
Personally, I think it's quite misleading to mention movies that show women wearing seams but you can never see the stocking tops or suspenders . By the way, I've seen The House on Carroll Street all the way through and you can't see Kelly Mcgillis wearing them either!!! Same with North By Northwest. You can see seams but no stocking tops, so.. what's the point???
Maybe it should be renamed Stocking tops and suspenders in mainstream movies.

To me the sight of seam's when "uncalled for" ie Kelly McGillis or in North by Northwest far more erotic than the Blantant stuff? that said also enjoy seeing "naturally worn" underwear views, a great one was in I think "Carry on Cruising" with 2 women in underwear/stockings getting ready to go out, ironing dress etc, ok, a bit of tittilation for the male viewers but something I recall doing without a 2nd thought in suspenders era. Worst still though is where seamfree tights are worn in drama's etc when unheard of in era they perdict? USA made for tv movies are big "offenders" but recall Sophia Loren thus (in black as well) in "Operation Crossbow" and the lovely Honeysuckle Weeks doing the same in the whole of Foyle's War, (well possibly not first episode as I did read an interview where she asked if she could wear tights as couldn't get on with S and S! and they said yes!)

Well that's just like, your opinion Anne. The fact of the matter Anne is that House on Carroll Street features blatant and uncalled for nudity. So why not show suspenders and stockings too? There's nothing erotic about just seeing seams. Women wore them all the time in the 1950's and you didn't see guys having to go home right away and having to go have sex with their wives or girlfriends just because they just saw seams.
The purpose of this thread is to report sightings of stockings and suspenders in Mainstream movies, and honestly who really cares if it's just seams??? That's nothing special! It really isn't because(and here's my point) it could be just seamed PH!!!!!
At least half of those films on that very long list could be considered exploitation films, and by definition, film is a form of exploitation, so get off your high horse already, OKAY?

I just remembered a couple good ones. Somebody a while back mentioned that there's two movies called "It takes two", and in both movies there are stocking sightings. In the one with Kirstie Alley and Steve Guttenburg, a stuck up blonde woman getting married at the end walks out of the wedding only to have one of the kids step on her dress, rip it off exposing what else, but white S and S?
There's another movie called It takes two. This one is a little more obscure. It stars nobody, but again the sighting is on a sexy blonde who seduces this guy into buying a car. There's at least two sightings, once where she's sitting in the luxury car adjusting her suspender belt and another later on where she's on the dance floor lifting up her skirt.
Here's a second vote for "Lust: Caution" which is chock of suspender & stocking scenes in the middle portion of the movie.
I almost forgot, there was a stocking scene in the mindless fast and the furious rip-off "Torque". The actress has on S and S very obviously and clearly on display when her skirt blows up towards the end of the film when a motorcycle flies by. Yes, a little ridiculous in terms of breaking the laws of physics, but a very nice view anyway.

I had a hunch when I bought a movie tonight. Sometimes they pay off, but more often than not they don't. This time however it did.
Has anyone ever seen Reefer Madness? I'm not talking about the original(which has some stocking scenes), but the remake called Reefer Madness: The movie musical.
There are at least 4 or 5 very sexy stocking scenes in that movie, S and S in fact. All of them for the most part on the same woman. There's even a hilarious scene in which a guy is humping this woman's leg for some reason... What the hell??
A caveat though... this movie is downright bizarrely surreal(as if you couldn't tell already). yes I'm sure that was intentional simply for the fact that the original was really over-doing it on the anti-marijuana propaganda. As a result this movie also some very strong violence and gore in a couple scenes. Nothing too strong, but it's earned its R-rating.
Oh, and on a side-note, this has nothing to do with movies but if you're ever near Broadway, you MUST see Promises, Promises. Tons and tons of women in stockings and suspenders everywhere in that musical.
I guess we're in danger of getting into non-mainstream, but 'Malizia' was a classic for stocking lovers, also the bulldog breed with the gorgeous Liz Fraser. Also Theresa Russell in 'Impulse' as a vice cop entrapping a perpetrator in a bar.

thread aren't mainstream either. To confine it just to mainstream movies is kind of silly anyway considering b-movies and direct to video releases are a veritable goldmine of stocking and suspender scenes. The number of obscure films out there is just insane.

One of my ALL TIME favorite stocking scenes in a flick. Right up there with the Opening Scene and the stipping for the Doc scene, in "The Millionairess."
The music sounds like an Italian version, or approximation of, the classic Benny Hill music, when things are getting "saucy." ;-)
