The theater was packed with Star Wars fans dressed as Jedi, Sith, and bounty hunters, all eager for the annual 'May the 4th' marathon. But for one man, this wasn’t just a celebration—it was the perfect cover for revenge.

By midnight, the police would be called to a scene straight out of a horror movie: three people dead, a fourth missing, and a trail of Star Wars memorabilia left as cryptic clues.

Act 1: The Superfan with a Grudge

Eric Voss, 34, was a lifelong Star Wars devotee. His apartment was a shrine to the franchise—lightsabers lined the walls, rare action figures sealed in cases, and an original 1977 movie poster hung above his bed. But beneath the fandom lurked a deep resentment.

Two years earlier, Eric had been kicked out of his local fan club after a heated debate over The Last Jedi turned physical. He blamed three members in particular: club president Mark Driscoll, treasurer Lena Choi, and events coordinator Jake Morrow. They had mocked him, blacklisted him from conventions, and—in his mind—ruined his life.

Now, on May the 4th, he would make sure they paid.

Act 2: The Marathon Massacre

Eric knew the trio would be at the Ashford Cineplex for the all-night screening. He arrived in a full Darth Vader costume, his voice modulator disguising his tone. No one suspected a thing.

Victim #1: Mark Driscoll – During The Empire Strikes Back, Eric slipped into the seat behind Mark. When the lightsaber duel between Luke and Vader began, Eric leaned forward and whispered, 'You should have joined the Dark Side.' Before Mark could react, a real knife slid between his ribs. Eric vanished into the crowd as Mark slumped forward, his blood pooling under the seat.

Victim #2: Lena Choi – During the intermission, Lena went to the restroom. Eric followed, locking the door behind them. When she turned, he ignited a custom-built lightsaber (a modified plasma cutter) and slashed it across her throat. He left her body propped against the sink, a toy Yoda stuffed in her mouth.

Victim #3: Jake Morrow – Jake was the hardest to kill. He fought back, knocking off Eric’s helmet in the parking lot. Recognizing him, Jake gasped, 'You’re insane!' Eric responded by force-choking him (with a garrote wire) until he went limp. He then arranged Jake’s body in the trunk of his own car, surrounded by burned Star Wars trading cards—a reference to Revenge of the Sith.

Act 3: The Disappearing Act

By the time police pieced together the clues—security footage, the Yoda doll, the trading cards—Eric was gone. His apartment was cleaned out except for one thing: a handwritten note on his pillow reading:

'The Sith always get revenge. May the 4th be with you… or else.'

Epilogue: The Legend Lives On

Five years later, Eric Voss remains at large. Some say he fled overseas; others claim he’s hiding in plain sight, attending Star Wars events under a new identity. Every May the 4th, detectives revisit the case, hoping for a break.
