Somerset had a peculiar reputation among the locals. Some said he was a hermit, others whispered he was a ghost—a remnant of the old frontier days. But those who truly knew him understood he was something else: a guardian.

For decades, Somerset had patrolled the riverbanks and hidden caves, protecting the land from poachers, looters, and greedy developers. He knew every hidden trail, every forgotten grave, and every secret the Cumberland held. Some claimed he could disappear into the shadows like smoke, appearing only when the land needed him.

One evening, a group of outsiders arrived with plans to dam the river, flooding the valleys where generations of families had lived. The townspeople protested, but the men in suits only laughed—until Somerset Ky stepped forward.

No one knows exactly what he said or did that night, but by morning, the developers were gone. The contracts had vanished, and the only trace left was a single feather—a hawk’s feather—placed neatly on the courthouse steps.
